Dry rub it the night before with this mixture: 1 part salt, 1 part pepper, 1/4 part cayenne, 1 part garlic powder, 1/4 part brown sugar, and 1 part paprika. The next day set it out to get room temperature. Place it on a rack in a baking pan, and put some water in the pan (about a half inch). Place it uncovered in a smoker or oven set at 225-250 degrees. Cook it 6-10 hours (depending on size) and make sure all the water doesn't evaporate by adding more as needing. When the meat is done, let it rest, and then slice it thin. Sauce with the following mixture: 2 part ketchup, 1/8 part mustard, 1/4 part apple cider vinegar, 1/2 part dark brown sugar, salt, pepper, and a few dashes of hot sauce. Lightly heat this mixture and spoon over the meat.

I partially agree with Brandon 21.  Dry rub is mandatory, but I would not use the sugar and make sure part of the rub and marinade mixture is a malt beer.  After allowing meat to soak in mixture overnight, place in slow cooker early in the morning and set for 8 hour cook time.  I place meat in slow cooker complete with marinade mixture.  Delicious!!
