When canning pickles, how long do you have to wait to open and try them?
I make relish instead of pickles, but I will tell you that I usually wait a few days--three or four--and then give it a try. From what I've read it seems that it's okay to open it to give it a taste, then close it back up again if it needs more time. In my experience, I've never had any trouble doing this. If I were to make pickles, I would probably slice a little piece off of one to see if I like the taste and texture.
I often make home made pickles, its easy and fun, and i add dill, it gave unique taste, you can try it. Often i wait for several days up to one week for pickles to get ready to eat
