What do you order from a sushi menu?
Do you have a favourite roll? Do you prefer a certain type of nigiri such as salmon? Or do you prefer sashimi?
I definitely go for the rolls and not the sashimi, but I tend to get the specialty rolls where I go. I like rolls that have fruit in them a lot (I had a delicious one with spicy tuna and mango!). I also really like rolls that have shrimp tempura in them. Yum!
I too love the rolls with either tempura bits or fruit in them too!
I don't like raw but I do order california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, spider rolls and things of that nature.....my husband likes it all so he always tries something new as well as his favorite stand-bys.
I love the sashimi. I tried the raw mackerel in a restaurant in the Netherlands last year and it was a revelation. Beautiful.
I too love sashimi, especially white tuna!
My favorite is salmon. So I practically just order salmon alone when I go for sushi.
Salmon is one of my favourite fishes to order too! I always order salmon nigiri without fail because I love it so much!
Ama Ebi Nigiri , Sake-Maki or smoked salmon rolls and Masago or sushi rolls with caviar .
I like smoked salmon rolls with cream cheese inside myself, I've never tried any of the others you've listed, they sound very interesting!
Once I was seriously poisoned by the went off fish so now I don't ea sushi
So sorry to hear that! I'm glad that you are ok now! Do you remember what fish or sushi that poisoned you?
I never desired sushi until I met my husband. I started with just veggie rolls, but after trying the salmon, I was surprised at how good it tasted and I have been hooked ever since.
It is interesting, that is this significant interest in salmon sushi. One study related to the image above mentioned that 100% of the Pacific salmon was infected with this harmful parasite...
In order for someone to claim that 100% of anything is affected would require the testing of every single salmon, so therefore highly unlikely and I would question this source.
I usually order what one would call raw and dead tasteful fish...
First just to qualify the terms Sushi simply means "with rice" and "sashimi" means raw fish.
I love both but unless I am in a place that I really, really trust I am quite cautious give the nasty complications that can come from bad sashimi.
If I am not in a place I can fully trust I stick to things that have been frozen and mostly with pelagic fishes, which are far less prone to parasites.
Yes, we always order from a trusted and reputable sushi restaurant
I like all sorts but am vegetarian so don't eat any fish or meat types. I like hosomaki best with cucumber or carrot. I didn't like it much when I first tried it but now eat loads and often make my own.
Those were the first rolls I tried when I tried sushi. I still really enjoy the gourd rolls, which as vegetarian as well.
I've never had it, and probably never will. I'm a vegetarian in the first place, so there seems to be nothing for me on a sushi menu....and...I've never been that crazy about fish, anyway. The very idea of eating it raw positively nauseates me.
My husband doesn't like it/won't eat it, either. He calls it "bait," and says, "I use that to catch REAL fish." LOL
Nauseating; that's exactly the word I would describe most vegetarian dishes I have encountered, especially now that I'm pregnant. My daughter is vegan, so I help her with her dishes, but my husband finds that food totally unappealing.
That's too bad; I'd say, then, that you've never encountered a competent vegetarian cook.
I do not order the ones with raw fish. I will get the California roll (I prefer it spicy). I also like a lot of the veggie filled rolls including: sweet potato rolls, pickle rolls, peanut and avocado rolls. There are a few specialty rolls that I like that I would have to have the menus to describe. They vary from place to place. Remember they always have some veggie options and you can always get rice on the side to fill up more. I just started eating sushi in the last 6 months and I now love it. I just stay away from any raw fish.
I always go with a baked roll. I think the fact that it is cooked and warm makes it taste that much better. Usually salmon, crab, creem chease, and avocado are my favorite type of ingredients. Go with the Baked Rolls!!
I don't think I've ever had a baked roll, I have had rolls that were battered and deep fried though...
I like all kinds of sushi's!!Aside from salmon you could try the exotic taste of avocado, cucumber or try experimenting other vegetables or fruits iwith mayonnaise & grated ginger. I enjoy a lot making my own sushi!!

Do you eat Sushi ? Can you handle Wasabi ?Do you eat Sushi, and if so what is your favorite ? Also can you handle Wasabi ? If you can stand the heat of Wasabi, try mixing it with Soy Sauce until it makes a brown smooth paste. You know it is the right when it feels like fire...

Best rolls or hand rolls that you recommend!? I recommend the spicy tuna crunch roll with avocado. Miso soup and their delicious house salad.

I'm new to the sushi world, but I love it. Big shockers for me were the eel (unagi?) and caviar. They are delicious.Since I'm new to it all, tell me what you thought would be NAS-TEH, but wound up being one of your favorites!

What makes a fish sushi grade?I've been grilling a lot of fish lately and serving it pink. I'm wondering if I should be cooking sushi grade salmon since it is pretty pink. What makes a salmon fit for sushi?
