How do you determine a good Wine?
If you are not a Wine Connoisseur
There are some guides to fine wines but for me it is the wine I like.
If someone has to give me a lengthily explanation about why a wine is good or fine I've found there is only about a 40% chance that I will like the taste. If they just say "Hey taste this wine." and leave it up to me that chance goes way up.
In short I drink what I like. I don't care about anything else. Back when I used to party with friends who were "Wineys" I always brought a wine I enjoyed. Something they often looed down on as "commercial" like a Blue Nun.
What I always found was that this was the wine that disappeared first.
These days I usually go for something like a white zinfandel.
Red wines or campaign both give me a headache or a hangover, even in small quantities.
I have to say that I'm more of a hard liquor drinker either straight or mixed.
I find that Wine is a thing that is very personal as well as class oriented. What maybe good to you maybe trash compared to the tastes of others you dine with at a different socio-economic class. Thanks for your feedback.
I know a good wine not only by tasting it but also when I don't have any aches the next day after a few glasses. Usually one would feel tired after a first glass that kind of wine is a NO. South Africa has some of the world's best wines and my favorite is dry red.

Do you talk to a wine retailer, do you read Wine/Food magazines, visit wine websites or do you just randomly pick wines of the shelf ??
