Check out Peggy's article about the 1939 Wisconsin cookbook. There are several delicious recipes included in this article. I enjoyed reading this article as I remember the cookies my mother made that are similar to these.

I loved all these cookie recipes from your old 1939 Christmas Cookies Booklet. I would rather have someone else bake them for me according to the recipes while I would like to have bites of the yummy cookies. Haha! Excellent layout of instructions, Peggy. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Pamela, for sharing Peggy's wonderful cookie recipes.

      Hi Peggy!
This is such a wonderful article, reminding me of the recipe books of my previous generations. I have treasured recipes written by my mother, and I also have my collection of handwritten recipes. It’s a nostalgic feeling, just turning their pages.
I liked all the cookie recipes shared by you, and would be trying them, for sure. I enjoy making cookies, and try my own variations.
Thank you for sharing this excellent article.

This Christmas Cookie Booklet is surely a treasure trove of recipes, Peggy. It's amazing that the book is in good condition even after so many years. All the cookies that you tried look delicious. Your neighbours must have enjoyed the feast while being judges on the tasting panel. Thanks for sharing Pamela.

Peggy has created a wonderful article. All of the cookies look and sound delicious! I would love to try them all, but I think my favorite ones might be the first cookies. I love the flavor of anise.

    Hi Vidya,

The other booklets that I still have are in a little better shape than this one from 1939.  At least it was well used from all appearances.  Yes, I believe that our neighbors are willing participants for tasting purposes when I try new recipes.  So glad you enjoyed reading this.

    Hi Brenda,

If you were one of our neighbors, you would definitely be on our taste panel of judges, and I would be happy to get your feedback.  Finding this and the other vintage booklets was a fun discovery.  I hope your days are going along more smoothly now after your heartbreaking loss of your dear Ron.  Many of us are thinking of you with love.

      Peggy...
I wish I could say my days are going smoothly...but sadly It's not there yet.
The will isn't finished with the lawyer yet & things that need attention in the house are prolonging....basically because people don't show up.

      Still waiting on a plumber.
      .but everything is progressing.

I still got a mountain of boxes to sort through and a couple of closets to clean out yet.

Not to mention the kitchen...i still cannot cook on top of the stove yet.  Too many things in the way
....but i can use the oven and the counter top has lots of outlets and overhead lights.

      It's getting there.

But the best news  ..it's going to be 81 degrees tomorrow.

I've got to finish this inside work...i want to enjoy the outdoors.

Maybe tomorrow I'll take a break and work on my flower beds.

Hi Linda,  Since you like the flavor of anise, I know you would like these cookies.  Perhaps you will bake some soon?

They all look so delicious. I'll definitely try a few. My granny left me her cookbook. It's tattered and dogeared but you just reminded me of her. I'll need to find that cookbook.

Hi Brenda,  I hope you took that break and got to enjoy the warm temperatures outside to work on your flower beds.  I planted some petunias this year as annuals.
