Losing control on the road is hands down one of the scariest feelings, not only for the safety of yourself, but the safety of those around you.

The only time I've come close was when I drifted on black ice right into a grass bank/hedge on a T-junction. I was just coming into the corner a little too fast and the car just lost it. Luckily, the only damage was a grill full of grass. I still crapped myself.

Anyone had a close encounter? Written off a Ferrari maybe?

No, but when I was 15 I was hit by a car going 70 MPH (I was a pedestrian). Does that count??

Well, it COULD have been...but in what I truly consider a miracle, all that happened was a cut on my forehead and a badly broken leg. I had no internal injuries, no damage to my spine or brain, no internal bleeding. The doctors couldn't believe it. They ran certain tests over and over again; they thought there was just NO way my insides weren't squished.

The first thing they thought was that they might have to amputate my leg, but that didn't come to fruition either. In yet another miraculous circumstance, one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the world happened to be at the hospital where I was admitted. He performed surgery and BLAM I'm still alive and walking today (with a little arthritis, albeit), and VERY grateful to be alive.

Only into a post in a multi storey car park whilst reversing out of the space....checked the damage, got back in and did exactly the same thing again!! But I am quite a safe driver, usually !

I crashed a car once with fatal consequences. It's all written in my latest hub:
Truck and Pothole Cause Hit and Run Accident
Changed my driving, I tell you.

Luckily, no.  I've been hit twice while turning left though.  (1 guy ran a red light, the other was driving down the parking lane)

I do have quite a number of car breakdown stories to tell...or going into ditches during the winter...I even have a story of when the truck I was driving decided (on it's own after I put it in park!) to slide sideways into the mailbox I was supposed to be putting a newspaper into.

Years ago on Friday the 13th, just after rolling the odometer over to 13,000 miles, I hit a pothole on my motorcycle doing 70. I had my left hand in my pocket from the cold, and it took off on me. Rolled over half a block, the bike made it the full block. At the hospital, they number their gurney's. #13. Two sprained ankles, one had to go in a cast 2 days later, and a sprained wrist. No cuts.

I've been kicked by a horse, and kicked out of a party once.
Oh yea, and left on the side of a tree by one horse!

I've Crashed Everything.... There is no point driving something if you haven't a clue how it performs. You have to explore the limits to know that you can achieve your goal and set new ones.

I have even crashed a sulky attached to a horse that I owned (a pacer on the training track). That horse went on to win 9 races lol

The next best crash was a Forkhoist with a pallet of paint on the day I left a job determined to change the foreman's black outlook on life lol
