   I think that the forums have gone a little crazy the past few months, and forum moderators would definately help keep the forums clean and happy, or as happy as one can get it with so many differing personalities.
   
   I have, also, noticed many topics started in areas that have better sections. Many of the below forum sections are a tad bare, when it seems that many topics on the upper forum sections could fill the holes below.
   
   Having moderators would help filter threads, move them to appropriate sections (which could help out the bottom half of the forum that is less frequently used), and just help the forums in general.
   
   I think that a happier forum, moderated by a small select group chosen by the team, could help make the forums more inviting to others. Having a forum with less bickering may bring more hubbers to chat along and add their inputs.
   
   Also, as the forums can be a big part of decision-making as to whether or not a person joins HubPages or not, reading so many arguements by current hubbers may deter them. Versus a nicely moderated forum may bring in more new contributing hubbers.
   
   There's my plea... Anyone else have thoughts?

   I never participated in a forum without moderation before. I actually enjoy this experiment. But I definitely see your point, and would not be upset in any way if we get some moderation here.

   I have a thought.  Don't make whitney a moderator or any time she disagrees with anyone she will tell them to "get a life" like she does in the comments on their hubs.  Even with a little bickering, this forum works just fine.  I applaud hubpages for having an open forum, and despite differences people have fairly well contained themselves.

      Paul, I didn't even see that thread. I'm sorry for the second of opinion. I do agree with the openess that the forum has, and I wouldn't say that the mods would have to shut off any arguments or delete and bickering. But, they could help tone it down  bit...
      
      
      
      
      I do remember this comment, as it has been deleted from your hub, I cannot repost it, but I believe it was out of context ever so slightly. I do appologize for making the comment, but I don't appologize for the emotion behind it. I clicked on a hub of yours hoping to see cute pictures of APBT pups, but instead I see a few and tons of attacks by alleged "pit bulls." I sincerly appologize for my actions, but at that point I had had enough, as I felt it uncalled for, at the time. I think that a proper hub could have been done to include the pictures with explainations, stories, and histories behind the pictures, versus "look at the cute puppies" and BAM the puppies attack and you see children with their faces ripped off. I do see where you come from with multiple 'pit bulls are bad dogs that should be killed' hubs, but as a APBT lover and a female with a strong maternal instinct and love for children, I would appreciate more background and legitimate infomation in the hubs, especialy those with such strong graphics. But, hoodala, please do accept my appology, as I do try not to leave poor comments, but I let my emotions (being fed up with ignorance to the breed) get the better of me. No sarcasm intended.

   So if there aren't any moderators then what happens when you report a post?

      There aren't any moderators in the forums, except to snip out overly promotional posts. Any page flagged is reviewed by the staff, and if found to break hubpages rules, removed. I believe the author has an opportunity to fix the problem. I wouldn't know, I have never had a hub flagged.

         That is more or less correct,  expect that when we remove a forum post that violates our rules it is simply eradicated completely, never to return again.  There is no chance provided to the author to correct the problem, as there is for hubs.
         
         Our current forum policy is to err on the side of openness -- we remove outright spam and self promotional posts when they become excessive (by a single author) or are not in response to or posing a question.  However, while we discourage petty bickering, insults, and insubstantive arguments, we don't feel removing them outright is appropriate or necessary (yet, anyway).  I'd encourage all Hubber's to simply take the high road and not respond to these threads.  If we all do that, they will go away on their own.
         
         I think Whitney's idea of moving off-topic threads to the right forum is a good one, and something we'll probably start doing soon.
         
         Also, this topic was discussed a couple weeks ago, and there are some good points made on both sides there as well.

   Paul, thank you for reminding me of my previous words in a kinda in your face way.  The high road is sometimes the hardest road to take, and I apologize for kicking dirt up on the peasant's path.  I rose to the occasion, but in so doing countered the very things I have been trying to plead for people not to do.
