I recently have had some problems with a few of my hubs that the ads had been disabled on automatically. I queried this in order to try to get the adverts restored because the content was not obscene, but had it explained to me that although not obscene, they are considered unsuitable for adverts because they include references to reproduction organs etc. Having now accepted that this is an Adsense requirement, (albeit a little crazy if you ask me as the hubs were medical in content), I decided to follow the suggestion that if I wanted to remove the 'Ad's Disabled' symbol next to the hub in "My Account", I should manually set the adverts on each relevant to "none". I went to go and do this and this is what happened. When I tried to change ad settings to "none", I couldn't do so unless I unchecked the "commercial" box first which allowed the other ad options to be clicked on. Then when I saved the changes an automated warning popped up that said the hub may not be in compliance because it appeared to be commerical!! Very strange. I also tried to uncheck the box that stated the hub met adsense rules, as apparently these hubs don't, however when I did this a warning came up saying the hub could not be published if it didn't meet the Adsense terms and conditions. If the ads were set to none then why would this matter? This left me with no other choice than to re-check the box to say the hub did meet Adsense Terms and Conditions, after which the only warnings I got were the ones based on the hub appearing to be commercial. How else can I set the ads to 'none' without this being a problem?
I have no idea what the answer is. I'm just saying "hi."

LOL, Hi Shades, great to "see" you here.

You have to remove any links that make the Hub commercial, then you can disable the ads.

I see, (although it still lets me put Amazon on there without saying this makes it commercia)l. Thanks for the tip.

Now don't get me wrong, I totally love writing on Hubpages and being a part of the Hubbing community, but I have lost a little heart recently when one hub of mine on "How to Improve Male Fertility" had the ads disabled based on automatic filters. This problem I reported in order to have...

Yesterday I was confidant that e-mailing HP staff would result in the ads being turned back on, on the four hubs (and counting) of mine that have had their ads disabled. This was not the case, and I was told by HP staff that all four would remain ad-less for being against the Google TOS.Do...

Ads on my hub titled "Alex Kelly Rape Case: Talk About Rushing to Judgment! " have been disabled by a moderator. While I do not really care about making money on ads (I'm not even sure what ads I had on the hub) I'm puzzled about this action by HubPages because there remain two ads on my...

I have a hub about Suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge that was published in 2009 and has been read more than 71,000 times and another on the status of the Golden Gate Suicide Barrier that was published in 2011. Ads on both of these hubs were just disabled today (05-19-13), can anyone tell me why?...

While editing a Hub in the HubTool, you may have noticed the “settings” section as part of the Hub Control Tabs in the right sidebar. This is where you can set the ad level settings for a Hub. You can choose from High, Medium, Low, and None. Because the Medium and Low settings were sparsely used...
