Who plays "check my stats" all day!?

I have over four dozen different sponsors and places I make money from online. That is my whole income.

If I was practical I would check all my stats in them once in the morning and once at night to see what I have made for the day.

But I find I can't help myself and check them dozens of times a day! big_smile

If my main ones are doing bad I end up checking them even more until I get some sales, even though checking them more will just result in more let downs.

Anyone else here check their sponsors and ad places all the time, hoping to see big jumps in their money for the day? It's driving me nuts! tongue

Checking the stats doesn't make any money or boost my traffic or have any effect on readers, so to do so compulsively isn't worth my time.

But analyzing stats or working on Hubs does, and I tend to do that on-and-off during the day.

Yeah that's what I try to tell myself. No matter how many times I look at them it's not going to make me more money. But I do it anyway!

However sometimes looking at what sites are bringing in the clicks or sales can help. Or noticing that one sponsor is not getting clicks could tell you they are having problems being offline.

I check more than I should - but I got better as my earnings became easier to project.

Now I just do a morning check for my 6 main networks and an end of day check on adsense.

I used to be like that.  Now my wife often has to ask me how we are doing before I will bother to look.

I check once a week every Sunday morning, this works best for me, I don't do daily stats checks anymore as I got fed up of it, instead I do all the stuff needed and then check once a week.

I check Amazon at 9 am, ebay at about 5pm and adesense about midnight. It's a waste of time to check them any more frequently. I'm with Relache, it doesn't make money, boost traffic or do anything else for you. I check the other networks that I work with after I check Amazon in the morning. Then it's back to making the content.

I check in a few times throughout the day. It helps me to identify which hubs are moving up or down in search rankings so I can keep on top of which ones need work. It can also serve as great motivation to get moving on new content!

I check everything once or twice daily, and that's about it.  But I do love to see it go up.  smile

I'm guilty of constantly checking my stats - I only use Adsense and Amazon, so it doesn't take that long (and I figured out that Amazon appears to update just once a day, so only check in the morning).

I'm fairly new though - I imagine at some point I'll go to once a day or less.

I check once a week.  I use to check more frequently, but since I've become resigned to the fact that I'm not making any money (that is okay - I've come to terms with it) it is simply a waste of my time.

I think maybe one of the reasons I check so often is that my sales can be very different from day to day.

Often each week I can have one day with only $2.00 in sales, then another day of $160.00 bucks.

If my sales were more consistent I would not check them as much. Also I'm always trying new ideas, building new sites and trying new things. So I'm always seeing if something I did makes me more. smile

Not long - I just reloaded my statistics page and about fell off the chair.  Accused my wife of "doing something", cursed the computer (I've been having trouble with the keywords tool the last hour), stopped and looked closer.  Settled back down and went back to work.  It was a shock, though - I need notice for something like that! lol

Thanks for confessing your stats addiction Bill.......my name is Gracey, I am Spacey, and I am a stats-checking-addict. Please help me.

I am now checking Amazon and Google every day, but I have a sneaky look at HP all the time. I've had a good couple of weeks on Amazon and started to relax a bit and think I'd only check weekly, then today was a cr@p day and now I can't wait til tomorrow - I need an injection of Amazon happiness.

I need some of Wayne's self control. I'm going cold turkey - not gonna check until Saturday now.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one! smile

I like to think that one day I'll try something different to get traffic or hits, check my stats and see them 10 times higher than ever!

I did notice something checking them the last few days. I had one new hub that kept coming up blank in the adsense block.

Now the ads show and match the hub perfect, and I've gotten more clicks on that one than all others combined. smile

I havent started earning yet but If I am home I keep checking to see if anyone has read my work.
I like to look at other peoples hubs & read the forums to learn as much as I can rather than ask the same old questions and annoy people.

"I like to look at other peoples hubs & read the forums to learn as much as I can rather than ask the same old questions and annoy people".

That will be appreciated. And then when you need to ask a well though out question, that you can't get answer for yourself, you will get a better response from the experienced hubbers because you have not been hitting the forums with questions like 'I've been here two days, when will I make some money'

      Welcome to the HP fun.
