    Hi folks,

I was just wondering, where do you all put your news feeds in your hubs? I just figured out the news capsule today, so I was just curious about the best place to put it. I've been putting it at the bottom, but I'm open to suggestions.

    Peace,
    Donna

I think the best place probably would be at the bottom, or perhaps just above the comments capsule. I don't use the news capsule myself but I do use the RSS capsule, which I imagine would be placed in a similar position.

I always put it right at the bottom, below the comments capsule.

It's only real function is to give your Hub a section that's constantly updating, because Google likes that.  You don't want people clicking on the News instead of clicking on your ads, so it's best tucked out of the way!

That's where I put mine, Marisa. Although I would also think it would drive traffic to our hubs, too, right? Maybe people who are looking for the news items that show up on the hubs?

        Thanks again, folks. smile

        Peace,
        Donna

Just a side note Donna, I'd just like to say that I have great respect for you. It's great to see that you have so much faith in religion that you have put aside some of your time to write about it and to share your knowledge with the world smile

I appreciate you, too, Rhysjc. smile Thank you...and thanks for your help on this thread.

It seems unanimous...the bottom of the page below the comments capsule it is! LOL

            Peace,
            Donna

The news capsule would in no way help your other hubs. It's basically links to news items on external websites.

A links capsule or an RSS feed would be better for promoting your other hubs.

Yeah, I'm using the RSS feed capsule for that. smile

I put it at the bottom, below the comments capsule. I'm not trying to lead people off my page, but I do appreciate the fact that the changing updates does keep the page refreshed and updated with new material.
If I were doing a an article on a subject that was currently "hot" and in the news, I might place it above comments-- but would probably move it down once it cooled off.

One thing to realize, depending on the keywords you choose, the news feed may reference something completely unrelated, or something you don't really want to see on your hub.

I have done several positive hubs about my experiences with sub teaching, but if you put "substitute teacher" in the search terms , you might come up with news stories about people in that job that have been arrested for various crimes-- ("good subs" don't make a lot of news).

Do you/anybody read the news capsules if you really do, do you click that story open and on average how many articles do you read.  I am just curious.  I have never read a single one, by the time I am at the sign off page, they seem irrelevant as I am anxious to comment.  I do not believe I am alone

And yes Marisa I'm suppose to be grateful and feel lucky they allow me here.  I did hear you.

    cheers

    out.

I'm sure you're not alone, Kimberly.  Like I said, the news capsule isn't really there for readers, it's there for Google.
