New Hubber- need advice!

   Any advice, really.
   Like anyone else, I would like some followers and general traffic... Any tips? It might be my hubs, and if so, any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
   I've only had my account for a couple days, but I know that when I first post a hub, it is shown, so I want to take advantage!

      Welcome to HubPages. I am going to explain briefly about both of them. Hopefully it works for you.
      
      To generate traffic, you need to have good tags (keywords) and quality content. Each hub you write should be at least 400 words. The more is better as it will rank better in search engines. 95% of readers love to read quality content. So try do research or even putting in facts to attract them.
      
      Followers are...erm a bonus. When you have good hubs, people will follow you. You could also follow someone and they will in return follow you. However, this is not very advisable though.
      
      Another thing you have to learn is backlink and promoting. Use the best of the link capsule in the hubs to promote your other hubs. You can also use stumbleupon, digg and twitter to promote further. However, these will only generate certain traffic for a time period. Quality content (again) will ensure a steady flow of traffic daily.

      Writing in the forum is a good way to start attracting followers, try looking in to SEO techniques to get traffic!

   Decide if you're writing for money or just the love of writing.
   
   For money - Ignore hubpage views and worrying about hubscore/profile score and stuff like followers. Money comes from external views - google, yahoo, bing. People who visit from search engines may never read any of your other articles - so each hub should be like a single be all and end all explanation on its topic.
   
   For writing - Try and talk to other people who are interested in writing as well in the writing and lit forum to get a following.

   Like WryLilt said, are you here to make money or are you here to get your ideas and writing out there. If you're here to make money, please check out hubs and forum posts from Darkside, Mark Knowles, Nelle Hoxie, Marisa Wright, Sunforged, Relache, RyanKett, etc.
   
   If you're here just to write, then go with your heart and you can't do wrong.

   Welcome to hubpages, it's a great place to be.
   
   You have recieved advice and links to some good reading from some of the best hubbers on here, digest it and implement it, it will save you days of trial and error.
   
   If I can offer any advice it would be initially write about what you are interested in, writing always works better if you are passionate about your subject. As time goes by and you get better at your craft you can experiment with different styles of hubs.
   
   Whether you write for money or pleasure, content is king, you must give your reader something to be interested in and the rest will follow.
   
   Another good piece of advice is give it time, your hubs are like a fine wine, they are much better (traffic) when they are given time to mature.

    If you'd like some followers, why don't you read some hubs on topics that interest you? When you find a hubber who posts articles that you really like - follow them. They may follow you or not. But you will see how things go and get to know what other hubbers are doing.

    Followers is a bit easy, they just come and of course some do go away.
    
    It is the traffic that you need to work on. My advice though, write hubs when you have the inspiration. And in your free time, read up on all the things that you need to do to promote your work. Some are relatively straight-forward and easily done plus are no-brainers. The rest you need to do your homework. This forum is the place to start and the help and faq sections plus lots of hubbers have hubs regarding all these mumbo-jumbo.
