I signed up for the 60DC and swore that I would leave Amazon behind for this challenge and focus on AdSense. Gawd--this is going to be a looooooooong 60 days.

I tried to do some keyword research tonight to prepare, but I keep coming back to "stuff"--you know, the topics I would slap Amazon items all over.

Every now and then a lightbulb goes off and I quickly check a keyword only to find out that there's not enough searches, too little CPC or too much competition.

I'm stumped. Where the heck do I pull inspiration from???

Have you tried using spyfu? It can be useful for locating markets with keywords. smile You can find it first up with google. I think it may be spyfu.com

I know this is going to be of no use to you in your time of need Irohner, but I couldn't stop laughing when I read the word "Gawd."  My sister uses that word every time she gets angry with her kids...and just needs to vent!

Earnest--It certainly can't hurt. Off to try it now!

Wendi--Ayup. I've raised three kids. It must be a "mommy" thing. smile

Do you use Traffic Travis, It's by far my favorite tool for bringing up reated keyword ideas, even with the free edition.

Whats the reasoning behind not using Amazon though? It's better to make a sale than make a click in my experience!

Internet tax laws dont apply to adsense and ePn - so they are safe networks for states that may be booted from Amazon

          Ahh okay!

I thought this was some weird stipulation of the 60DC for a minute!

lol, nope.. I actually try and suggest the other route for all HP writers and people who read my articles.

Diversify! Get into every network you can ... most of my retailers offer me 10% commission for the same products that Amazon only offers 4-8%

Ill take a Tiger Direct sale any day over an Amazon 4% cap on electronics!

and I havent heard a single one of these networks having any concerns about affiliate locale

I have to admit I do try to diversify, but if there is one thing I hate it is 'monetising'. One of my real loves of Hubpages is that I don't have to spend 5 minutes getting an affiliate link for every product I want to sell!

The keyword search on amazon modules is a lifesaver.

agreed. Plus amazon has a great trust rating and familiarity with even new users of the net and online buying.

Rhode Island just implemented the Internet tax laws. Nelle lives just north of RI in Mass and I live in Connecticut just south. We are both pretty worried about our states following RI's lead. If they do, Amazon will drop us like a hotcake.

I have Traffic Travis up, but I do have a question. Why are the numbers so vastly different from the Google keyword tool? I just compared one keyword on both sites: Traffic Travis gave it 492 searches/day (over 14k), while Google gave it roughly 140 Global monthly searches. Are you sending me on a wild goose chase here? smile

I used TKA to establish a new way of thinking to get a new mindset. Might not be necessary for you to do it.

Giving up Amazon and ebay products on hubs on several identities, means that if things go bad with the tax laws, I will have them up and running and won't have to change anything. I will be a very busy person in most other places trying to cope - like editing and deleting 800 hubs.

Besides it's starting to be fun and they write up a lot faster than product hubs.

lrohner you can sign up for the TKA, they are offering a free 1 month full access trial, it may help you in improving your adsense earnings!!

Thanks Nelle and ES--I am just coming to the end of my free TKA trial and will be officially signing on as soon as it expires. I know how to "pick" keywords, it's coming up with the list of stuff to pick from that is eluding me.

Nelle--I need to find that "new way of thinking," and I'm just finding it horribly difficult to get there. Everytime I come up with a keyword, my mind starts visualizing the Amazon products I can sell with it! smile

One of the other challengers suggested using a dictionary and a pin to select keywords (I am sorry I can't remember which of the logs it was in to quote it)..
Maybe this is as good an approach as any other.. Trust to fate to select the words..

Haha I am definitely not sending you on a wild goose chase.  I find Traffic Travis fairly limited when it comes to analyzing keywords, so I find interesting looking Keywords, and then discect them with Micro Niche Finder, although I am pretty sure Market Samurai or similar can do it too.

I simply find traffic travis a very simple way to receive 200 possible keyword ideas around a niche subject, and it has helped me out on a number of occasions!
