Trust God?

   "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." (Prov. 3:5-6 KJV)
   
   What does it mean to fully trust in God? Do we tithe only when we can afford it? Do we accept the extra work on Sunday and skip church to try to make payment on the mortgage? Do we ignore God when we get our promotion at work, but expect Him to provide miraculously when our child is in the hospital? Do we live in the fullness of joy when our bank account is empty?
   
   I believe many of us today would be shocked at the true power of God if we really let him work in our lives. We here in America have become so self-dependent that we hardly have time to even thank God for our food from day to day. After all, WE'RE the ones who worked sooo hard to be able to afford it right? Let alone acknowledge his daily protection and provision in our lives. When's the last time YOU healed YOURSELF?
   
   We "trust" God for the big things... you know, making sure the earth keeps spinning, the universe does it's thing, the usual God stuff. But we fail to realize that the same all powerful God wants us to simply trust him to take care of our lives as well. I know, it's hard to believe that God who created everything could understand how badly we needed that last check, but you know what? He does. What's more, is no matter what the economy of the world looks like, it's all His anyways. All of it. Life itself belongs to God, and at any moment He is waiting for us to bring Him our cares and help us. But what do we do instead? We try to carry around all our troubles, figure out how we are gonna do everything and build our careers and still make it the kids' game at 6 to keep the wife happy. Life sure is difficult isn't it? You know God, he only created the whole universe, the Sun, black holes, etc. I'm not sure he can help us buy groceries at the end of the month, He just doesn't work that way. Oh sure he fed Elijah by wild ravens in the wilderness, but He doesn't help guys and gals with minivans and car payments. Does he?

            Hi Precious, I thought so too. Its strange that people forget that God provides for peoples spiritual and physical needs. Life on the road can be lonely so I depend on him more for spiritual needs then anything, but I have no doubt my physical needs would be met as well.

      I know and I think it's hard to trust God sometimes when ..........we don't have a lot of proof he exists

         As has been made evident in most every thread...  There is no such thing as proof that everyone can accept.
         
           So you have to set your own standards as to what proof is and is not.
         
           After that hurtle is crossed...   Your eyes can be opened to what proof is in regards to  to you..

   Speaking from personal experience ... He does and will provide for us.  When my husband left three years ago, I had to Trust God to provide for me and my little girl.  I was a stay at home Mom for over 10 years and that is a death sentence in the job market to some women.  God provided for us both in amazing ways ... a job, food, clothes, shelter ... all of our needs have been met and even some desires.  Did I tithe?  Yes, I did and still do.  He kept His Promise in Malachi and He has provided abundantly above anything that I could think or imagine.  I believed that He would provide for all of my needs according to His riches and glory ... and He has.

      That is a fantastic testimony Pearl. God has provided for myself and my family in miraculous ways as well. I had the awesome privilege when I was just seven to watch my Godly father literally pray down money to buy food for us to eat. Truly He cares for His own.

               That's wonderful Dave, I stay out of touch with my family, my kids grown, but I have fellowship with other drivers the Lord cares for us.

                  srwnson, my father I replied to Pearl about has been a truck driver for over 25 years now and still remains one of the Godliest men I know. It is encouraging to hear that there are others out there! That's where he find his encouragement as well

                     It's very true, although I haven't had the benifit of a college edjucation, I have learned alot from my time on the road. I've found myself in situations and circumstances where I had to trust God. Whiteouts, sandstorms ect. Each morning I say a little prayer over the CB for a safe run. You'd be surprised how many come back with an Amen.
