      Girls can be really mean and yet trouble is always gonna be around.  I'd tell her to ignore trouble.  If they get really out of hand tell someone she trust or have an adult talk to the principal. 
      
      Bullies tend to interview others to see if their someone they can get away with harassing.

         Ignoring a problem will seldom make that problem go away...also I would only consider getting the principle involved as an extreme last resort, in many instances this will simply alienate others.
         
         If she is unable to continue a friendship with these girls, she should consider hanging with another crowd. Make new friends  A first nice then mean freindship is not healthy as it causes low self esteem.
         
         Avoiding confrontation is important, perhaps a different hang-out where she can make new friends.

            Often times bullies are just that and work hard to make the parents feel they have worked it out and then go back to the bully techniques.  I work with kids and deal with this on an ongoing basis.
            
            Hurting kids hurt other kids and it's only when you get to the root of their real problems and solve them they stop lashing out at other kids, or someone they can lash out at, the offender in their lives is probably to big and controls the situation.
            
            Bullies often are victims themselves.

               I'm sure you're right Katiem, however kids can be cruel for no other reason then peer pressure. It wasn't too long ago that I was in school and I remember often we would form groups. Each would stick with their group, cheerleaders, bandmembers nerds etc.
               
               Often to avoid confrontation becoming a member of a group was a solution. I know it doesn't sound like a good thing but the fact is that's the way it is.

   She should punch one of them in the face as hard as she can, and go for a second one if at all possible before they kick the crap out of her.
   
   She won't like the butt kicking that follows, but they won't want to mess with her  again either because, frankly, nobody wants to get punched in the face.
   
   Why you think people are afraid of bugs?  Nobody wants to get bit, not even a little bit, and it doesn't matter that we can squash the bug afterward.  We just avoid them.
