Increase in nitpicking of hubs by HubPages?

   Hi all,
   
   Aside from the excessive backlinking last week, is anyone seeing an increase in Hubs being unpublished or having ads disabled?
   
   I am really fed up with this place lately. I've had two Hubs cause problems because of excessive linking from them (because I've been testing an RSS feed link exchange with the most popular Japanese information site on the web).
   
   Last week I got one automatically flagged as inappropriate. I always hate it when people think they can write content filters that are idiot proof - they can't. Fair enough, I've unpublished that one and put it on my own site. It was showing Google Ads so Google were fine with the content.
   
   Today I found out one of my most popular hubs had a misleading title, description or too many keywords so it's been unpublished. I don't know what's wrong with it but I've submitted it for manual review. I guess that one will go on my own site as well.
   
   Grrr!

      As someone with over 100 of her own websites and 10 years experience in affiliate marketing (this December), I can honestly say that HP is the easiest place I have ever seen to make ALOT of money, very quickly.
      
      While my own websites make more money than HP, I've had to put 50 times the effort into making and keeping them profitable. They get hit by google updates much more easily, and the traffic and sales are much more variable.
      
      You can't argue with success, and HP is an amazingly successful and stable platform. Putting up with filters, facebook capsules and the like is a small price to pay, for the rate of return on my work.

   Yes, I had that a couple of weeks ago and asked for a review as I was not sure whom or what had been offended. Ads were reinstated within a couple of days , which was nice.

   Thanks. Well I've calmed down a bit now but it seems all I've been doing here recently is firefighting. It's a nuisance when you spent ages writing original hubs that get nitpicked over months after they're published and have had 100's of page views. I've been using the hub hopper quite a bit recently and I see that 80% of the hubs being published are self serving link trojan horses for other sites.
   
   In the long term all of us with 100+ hubs are better off making our own sites, so I bought 3 more domains last week.

   Nitpicking. I know it will feel that way. I had one that caught the attention of the filter. It also caught the attention of Google's filter. It took me a couple of days to sort it with HP, and several weeks to get it Google happy. I still don't know what the real problem was. With HP, I changed very little, if anything. For Google, I jumped through hoops. So many I honestly don't know what caused the final all clear.
   
   So saying - HP staff were responsive, helpful and concerned as to how I could fix the hub. Google? Nada
   
   Going back to your question, because the above doesn't answer it, no, I don't think HP are over doing it. They've managed to gain an impressive global position. They won't keep it by playing catch up with Google. They need to stay informed of what's going on, changing expectations, addendums if you like, and more.
   
   Spammers don't seem to learn. They continually drop their crap wherever they think they can get away with it. Although the filter systems, changing algorithms etc are a pain in the ass when they affect the you's and me's of the internet, at least we know that it is getting harder for those that don't play the game. I never mind someone playing hard ball. It's cheating that ticks me off.

   I noticed one flag of excessive affiliate links- when i used 2 links to shareasale along with 3 other networks affiliate links on one hubs. I guess if we are using multiple affiliate links then we're restricted to only single link to same domain. But that makes linking to products from same affiliate network difficult. With such rules i guess we're tied to only amazon & ebay as affiliate network or have to move product comparison reviews(which has excessive links) to our own sites.

   I think you just have to remember that these are automated systems which have been created to protect Hubpages and it's users.  It is very easy to take an unpublished hub personally, after all, you more than likely put a lot of work in to it.
   
   It is however important to remember that these automated systems can
   
   a) Be wrong, email the team for clarification.
   
   and
   
   b) They are here to help.
   
   Look at why it has been flagged, and try and figure out what the problem is. Fixing the problem may even increase your traffic and your earnings per click.
