both...religion is originated from thought...thought of individual or group of people...then it is noted down in form of some or other book...the number of followers increase with time and since they were not there when book was written , interpret it in their own ways...soon religion gets perceived in different ways..and that is where followers make religion...so it is both..religion makes followers and followers with time make religion...
I've been watching some interesting TV docs about Britain several centuries ago - modern christianity is very different to those days. Superpowers like monarchy adopted christianity and added their own rules (no drinking, dancing etc) to try and rule over people. Lots of religious paintings in those days too.
The Creator-God Allah YHWH created the Universe and life in it. Life started evolving till such time that the most intelligent of it as per His design became Adam or man with the qualities to do good or to do bad; at that juncture of time man needed Word of Guidance from the Creator-God Allah YHWH to remain set on the good path. Adam received Word of Revelation from the Creator-God Allah YHWH; and thus the Religion started. The Truthful Religion comes from Revelation of the God; it cannot be made by man; if made by man it would be most injurious to man. Religion enlightens and polishes the inherent qualities of man to full bloom; so it emancipates man with following or evolved them to further heights unable to achieve otherwise.
This is my understanding; others could differ with me with reasons.
yes and no...yes because general aspects are dealt by religion..no because every person is world is unique and how to live one's life is his/her personal matter...secondly social norms change with society...we can't have manual which is 5k or 2k or 500 years old and apply it to current society...times change which requires new ways...reason religion remained too influential was because society had gradual change priorly but now societies are changing rapidly and to deal with that we need new ways...change is something which can never be stopped even if confronted..change is not optional but way humans work...
The religion that strive after making followers are all false, and they all have one origin, the false god who is divided against himself.
Thus just like their father, they too are constantly and pepetually divided.
There is one true religion, and those who belong to it need not worry about recruiting followers, for it is known that those who belong to it will know themselves no matter which path life has taken them.
They are not known by their gathering but by their doctrine. It is the doctrine of life through faith.
This page answers this question in much better way.
http://www.rationality.net/religion.htm
NO. Religion is not a manual of human lives. Biological aspects (that we addressed in medical science) are not taken care of in religion to call it a manual. It is more of psychological concept that restricts people to move around in circle. It is more of moral police just like spellchecker in firefox.
Because it creates insecurity and fear in minds of those who follow it. As per technological advancement many concepts from religion are easily trashed. Unless fanatics rhetorically defend them people can easily see through it. Following religion just because ancestors said so or some book says so is blind belief. People don't need to follow some book or religion in order to live on this planet. Saving our own species and keeping the food chain of this planet in PROPER order is what we need. What ancestors did with their fairy tales is not going to solve the future problems.
I agree with you but not completely.
If someone not gonna follow, then what is the meaning of life..
Then what is difference between us and animals...
Are'nt we different, we got brain, speaking power, intelligence... which animals lack..
What is our aim of life... and how can we say that we are best,
"On the basis of good food chain, can we say we are the best on earth because our food chain is excellent."... No.. no way...
Its something else...
Joys of life are ad-ons in our life.. but not the aim.. AIM is something different
okay, if animals have like human then why they are apart..
Because it's not size of brain that decides the evolution of species but it's individual response towards environment decides the evolution. There are still single cell species from which human and other organisms evolved. Don't ask me why there are still single cell organism if we are evolved. The fact is that response(natural selection) decides the evolution. Many species are extinct because of break in food chain and their inability to respond to environment in the way they should adapt. Many other animals which you see today will be extinct if they failed to adopt the environment.
I don't want to put you in sadistic mood by saying something like -" scientifically there is only one meaning of life that is-multiple and survive". That's what even some religions teach us.
Real meaning of life is - not to find the meaning of life to regret the very fact of it. That's what other animals teach us.
Whether you like it or not- we are animals. Perhaps your religious inclination will not agree with evolution. But the fact is -We are animals capable of changing the environment around us. That's the difference between humans and other animals.
You need to join school again for zoology class. Animals speak in their languages. Animals are also intelligent within their intellectual boundaries. They are the first to understand the environmental changes -quake, wind and temperature. Humans sacrificed this power for the sake of intelligence. Ants, bees and other animals don't plan for future ? they don't live in society ? hunt ? build ? organize ?
Learn to observe nature rather than religion, maybe you will get that part of animal instinct back.
As i said earlier aim is not to find one thing in life and being happy about it. If one person does that then chances of missing the fun in life is more.
Humans may be the best on this planet when it comes to manipulating environment around them but not in this universe.
You can convince your mind for "something else". But if you want to test this -just break the food chain on which human rely and see the difference.
Aim is - survive and multiply. Whether you like it or not this is the root of all the organisms on this planet. You can be philosophic and can build train of thoughts against this but try to deny this scientifically and you'll end up being ignorant about fact of life.
where were zoology before 50 or 100 years... i have heard that human of every age considers himself the most clever and intelligent, but the fact is that when you will get old after 20 or 30 years, scientists of that time will conflict the reasons what we believe now.
don't you ever feel that you have some responsibilities...? or we are without it
It was always there. That's why we studied extincted animals so far matching the records in the past. Old civilizations even trained them as well. Just because people choose to ignore reality it doesn't go away.
That is because they are not aware of universe expansion and many basic physics laws remaining the same. Gravity was still there but it's value was constant research. Verification and falsification is the way science reached towards facts about universe. Current orthodox generation thinks our ancestors were more smart than us which is entirely false. Any smart generation will document more facts that less leads to contradiction and errors. But ya know the history. I'm of opinion that future generation if remain skeptical are likely to progress more than what we are right now. There is nothing wrong by being skeptical and discarding what is not consistent with results in universe.
As human being, it's our responsibility to take care of our own species and the environment on which we survive. Then comes the role for superior living being on this planet where we should protect those species which are getting extinct. Our responsibilities are no more or less than this. Everyone have a choice to deny these responsibilities without affecting environment.

In the Bible it is clear that Jesus was Jewish. You will find it written multiple times, however what religion was he leading the followers to? Catholicism believes that Jesus told Peter, " And I say unto thee, thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hell...

This is not whether or not God exists or your religion is correct, because all that matters when it comes to religion is your opinion and how you cope with life. Every time I go to the forums there is a new religion thread and to me it just becomes more and more pointless. I got involved in those...

Two relatively similar people are presented with the Bible and the message of Christianity. Person one takes to it eagerly. Person two pushes it as far away as it will go. What is the difference between these two people? Lets add that the two people have identical upbringings, are the same sex,...

If you are religious, in the end god will sent fire and stars and all to earth to kill almost all except a selected few who will live eternally to praise him(A CD player might have served him better though, without much hassles). As wars and associated sins are decreasing day by day(well if you...
