How do you use twitter to get traffic ?

I get twitter traffic from writing good hubs. Not a lot but I noticed some articles shared on twitter, facebook and a forum (as a reply to a post from someone who wanted to buy product x, so very happy with that link).

The easiest and best way is to use hashtags. By adding # in front of any word you want to share, you add your tweet to a unique channel for that word, letting thousands of potential visitors see it.

Hey WryLit, care to explain that in a little more detail?  I don't know hashtags from sales tags.   Where do you use them, in twitter and give an example.   I would love to know this one.

Okay, I looked it up, I have no idea why I try to make stuff complicated.  Duh!    They then are just like tags other places, giving readers search fodder.   I will start using them now.   Thanks for the info WryLit.

You're welcome. And a hashtag is basically that - a word with a hash sign written in front. Once you tweet it, it will turn into a link.

This #sentence has #three hashtag #channels in it.

Do you get a lot of traffic from this? I shared my two first hubs without hash tags and only got 3 visitors from it - quit doing it.

Well if you've got no followers, who's going to see your tweets?

With hash tags you can share your tweets with ANYONE who is interested in that topic, whether they're your follower or not.

Okay now I'm starting to get it a bit more! But how long are these things you tweet? Is it an entire hub or just the link to that hub? Keep in mine I've never used this service before!

                  Hi
You tweet just only the link to your hub, OK?
                  Greetings

Twitter messages are limited to I think 140 characters, so you're definitely just tweeting links to the hubs, not the actual hubs themselves.

I never used Twitter much because I thought only my followers could see my tweets.

That's pretty awesome WryLilt, thank you.

If you have set your Twitter account to private then only your followers can see it. But if it's a public account then anyone can see your tweets.

Link your hubs to your twitter account.  Then, as you gain followers, when you create new hubs you can tweet about it on twitter and all those people will get a notice about it.
