Why is religion such a big deal in these forums?

      Fluffy:
"Religion" is a "big deal" to the majority of humanity!
Why would it "not be" here?

I agree, but why do so many hubbers  get annoyed with it in the forums.

This is a forum to discuss religion. Those that believe and can converse sensibly with each other. Those that have no belief should go to other topics that may interest them. You all apparently come to this forum to instigate and antagonise believers.

I think maybe people talk about religion so much because it is so open to interpretation. It is interesting to hear other's thoughts. It sounds, from reading the posts here that a lot of people find it boring. That Edweirddo filter sounds useful, but I just don't click on a forum I have no interest in.

ACK! I'm on day 5 or so of being RELIGIOUS FORUM FREE thanks to Edweirdo's add-on that blocks them from showing up on my screen. When I saw "Religion" as the title of this thread, I thought they had invaded the rest of the forums too! Don't scare me like that! smile

Download the Edwierdo addon and let them all fester, I never noticed the religion subtopic  in the hubbers hangout beofre though, could this please be removed so we can effectively use the forum filter?

      Thisis:
But the subject gets more "play" in "hubbers hangout."
Isn't "hubbers hangout" supposed to be used to
"Go off-topic and discuss whatever you like?"
I'm quoting that direct from the "hubbers hangout" forum filter.

I think because religion is such a wide-ranging topic, and one which plays such a large part in many people's lives.  The big questions of why we are here, is there a god, do we cease to exist at the point of death, are always going to be of interest to people.  Personally, I find the religion and philosophy questions to be the most interesting, even though I have no religion of my own and consider myself to be an atheist.

The internet is becoming more and more popular lately, with the way the economy is going. Churches especially are learning to use it to reach towards bigger crowds.
