Attention all hubbers;
Please let us know what fitness facilities you use to get or stay in shape. If your facility is not listed in this forum list it.
Let's help each other get healthier.
I work out at home and at the gym on base. It's free on base, no membership required, and it's close enough to walk to, so I take advantage of all that when I can.
Hard work. It uses more small muscles and develops an evenly distributed muscle growth and a strong frame.
The reason there are hundreds of different pieces of workout equipment is because they increase the size of the larger muscles.
Even a skinny hard worker will be much stronger than his muscle bound mate who lives in the gym.
So true.
We were cleaning up the barn at a conference center once. There were all these big football players trying to lift bales of hay. Some teenage girls were bringing snacks around and so they were really preening. Then this skinny farm kid started throwing bales faster than two football players could pick one bale up. Guess who got the girls?
I took a holiday in Sydney with my then 20 year old son and we had a gymnasium in the apartment so we went to the Gym.
I have had my lateral dorsal removed from my left side a few years before.
I easily out performed him in the press and all the lifting although I was over 50 at the time.
He beat me on the treadmill, but I left him for dead everywhere else and yet I had not done any hard work for some years.
I built a strong body with hard yakka as a kid, and it has held me in good stead.
My back is shot, but the rest of me is still very strong. Hard work is the answer as far as I can see.
Just look after your back!
Foam roller on the Illiotibia muscle releases pressure on the back.
Thank you, I have many ways of relieving pain and that is one of them. Others are 2 hours of gentle exercise in bed, stretching the lower back by hanging over an armchair, doing self chiropractics, hot and cold packs and the list is long.
The best treatment I have found in over 35 years of looking is a joint followed by stretching.
In BumbleTown, we recommend using a sturdy tree when you hang forum spammers with resistance bands
Read your TOS mate.... especially in regard to self promo posts!
The hardest place to be motivated is at home, but that has become my prime workout facility lately. There are many exercises that can be done at home and many creative ways to use household equipment.
I also started to workout at home, between all my businesses, I don't have time to go to the gym or even workout when I'm there. After a year of a lot of medical complications, I finally feel good enough that I can now workout. I'm falling in love with resistance bands, my elliptical machine and a 26 lbs. homemade medicine ball.
our city rec centers are great, and for only $15 a year...I'm laughing at people paying 30,50,90 a month to workout.
that is a phenomenal price, unbeatable by most if not all fitness facilities that I know, I wish we had that in NY. The facilities with low rates are always crowded and most machines are in bad shape.
I tend to work out at home as well, and currently hosting a 500-mile challenge that's starting in a week so I'll be trying to "set an example for the pack" and exercise pretty much all the time. I also do a lot of walking/running at the local animal shelter, they have a nice walking path and there's never a shortage of dogs that would love a one-on-one jaunt outside of their kennels.
Other than that, I do weights and core strengthening classes at the local YMCA (had to go the financial aid route, though, that place is expensive!) and have used the weight room and swimming pool at the local Holiday Inn, they have monthly passes for locals to use those facilities.
I workout at Xsport fitness it is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. My clients usually workout at home but they have a personal trainer with them(me).
Fitness is about commitment and taking action. So if you can't do some basic exercise in your own home, or go for a jog, the location will matter little.
I do a military workout, which I can do anywhere as it just uses your own bodyweight.
I combine Exercise with free weights, some cardio and also Yoga. Proper warm up before and static stretching after the exercise should be a must. Do a high Intensity Interval Training at least once a week. This will surely help anybody to stay in good shape
I workout at home in my gym, I also swim in our pool, which I've been thinking about enclosing so we could use it year round, but honestly, I'd think really hate that. I also walk all the time.
I think the rope jumping is the best exercise because rope jumping saves your mostly time and gives us very strength, my doctor says that 15 minutes of rope jumping is equal to 1 mile running.
I stay motivated and workout at home. Bicycling, weight training, hulahooping is a major part of my exercise routine.
LifeStyle RX is a family friendly gym. Since it is affiliated with a hospital it is cleaner that most gyms. The people there are encouraging. They have helped me to keep going even when I was worn out from chemotherapy.
Some of my Tri buddies don't belong so we swim at the rec center and open water at a nearby lake too. The key is the friend who says,"Come on this is good for you. You will thank me later."
I work out at my employer's gym, KORET, which is also open to alumni, faculty, staff, donors, neighbors, and anyone affiliated with USF.
The gym boasts an Olympic-size swimming pool and has various group exercise classes.
If anyone is an alum, a donor, is affiliated, or lives in the USF area of San Francisco, feel free to join: http://www.usfca.edu/koret!

Do you think 20 minutes/day workout is enough to stay fit and healty? Many health professionals recommend a schedule as easy as 20 minutes workout a day. Do you think you can make this a daily routine and what would you recommend to do in this short period of time. Or do you think 20 minutes is much...

What helps get you motivated to work out or exercise?Sometimes after a long day of class or work I have no energy to workout. I have my own motivators, but I'm curious as to what gets everyone else ready for a workout when you'd be almost as happy to crash on the sofa and unwind for a few hours.

How often do you work out?Two days in a row now I have used the elliptical machine and the only reason is because while I was at the gym the one lady was on it yesterday and I asked her how many calories do you burn she told me she burns 700 a day. She's on it for one hour I told her I can't do...
