Speaking on Backlinks.....

I've noticed the back and forth on the backlinks subjects here and being a big fat novice in this area I thought I'd ask more about it.
I have done some backlinking on sites with subjects relevant to my own (usually in the comments section, but I do it in the non-spammiest of ways by sharing my thoughts on what they've written and then saying I've written something about it too--though I've never-ever-ever put a link on hubpages comment sections wink ).

How do you guys backlink? I've heard some people talk about asking other writers for backlinks, but I've never done that. Is that acceptable? How do you approach someone in doing this?

If U can Write Great articles for whom people are searching for, will automatically be back linked from other pages on Hubpages like categories (PR 4, PR3, PR2, PR1, PR5), related hubs (PR1, PR2, PR3, PR4), tag pages (Not seen any pagerank on them), homepage (PR6) and also via hubkarma (PR1, PR2, PR3, PR4) done by others (Hubpages System do this Automatically with an specific algorithm)... You don't have to ask from anybody...

I'm Speaking Becoz I tried and seen Results...

Great to hear you are getting some benefit from your backlinking efforts, however the success is unlikely to have anything to do with the PageRank of categories pages etc. PR is all but dead and passes little benefit, it's most likely the relevancy of the pages linking to you that is responsible.

I think Nell was talking about backlinks from sites outside of HubPages. It sounds like you're talking about internal links to your hubs.

Yes, I was talking about outside of HubPages big_smile Not that internal isn't great too (not that I would know, being fairly new and all lol )

Nell-I don't do aggressive backlinking, so I'm not the right person to answer your question. Have you looked to see if Darkside, SunForged, ThisIsOli, Mark Knowles, RyanKett or Misha have written hubs on the subject? I don't know if any of them have written on the subject, but it's worth a shot.

Yeah, see? That was what I was afraid of. "Aggressive backlinking" just sounds terrible. I'm so not aggressive....unless provoked! lol

Just remember this. PR does not matter, site quality matters. You want to get backlinks from sites that have a certain level of quality.

Backlinking aggressively is not particularly bad, but however you backlink you should do it 'smart' to avoid wasting your own time.

Do you have an article on it? Thus far all I've done is backlink from here to my website and vice versa and then when I find a related article I'll comment and post a link (not on hubpages though).

Kind of, I should probably update them!
