How to find number of hubbers you follow

Is there any way to directly find the number of hubbers you follow instead of manually counting from 'my account'.

The only way, it seems, is to go to 'Hubbers You Follow' and count.

Hi anujagarwal. There is no easy way for you to check other than a manual count or asking a staff member, but I've just had a look, and you are currently following 136 people--the same number of followers you yourself have!

Here's a somewhat clumsy way to do it on Windows:

First, go to your http://hubpages.com/my/favorites page.

Highlight all the people you follow and do Control-C

Open Excel or any spreadsheet and paste into a new sheet.

Scroll down to the last row. Divide that number by 5. That's how many.

On a Mac, just open Terminal, type "wc -l" (that's a minus 'ell'), press ENTER, then paste in the stuff press CTRL-D, then again divide that number by 5.

Just another of the many, many reasons to prefer Macs

I don't know if that people you follow page ever goes to multiple pages. If it does, you need to do this for one page, count the full pages it uses, and then do it for any remaining partial page.

  If you select and copy all the Hubbers you follow and then paste them into an Excel spreadsheet, divide by two, not five. (Each of those whom you follow has two rows of information.)

  I just noticed I haven't got Excel, but Open Office Calculator. I just tried to paste the people I follow and the program crashed. I'll try again.

  Firefox is really becoming an inferior product. It is bloated and slow and buggy. Better than IE, but Chrome works with almost everything and is generally far better.

  Have just downloaded Chrome, and yes, it works really well. Much faster than Firefox. I see it also has a spell checker here as I write this message, but all my words are wrongly spelled because it's looking for German spellings ... I'll have to fix that.
  Oh, and I know how many Hubbers I'm following now.

  Keep Firefox around. There are a few pages that don't play well with Chrome. Very few, but you could hit one.

  Actually, with Firefox, I was beginning to think there was something wrong with my computer. Changing to Chrome feels a bit like swapping a Ford for a Rolls Royce. Hope it stays that way.

  I was living on a ship for the past couple of weeks (moved out on Wednesday, thank God), and my internet connection was unbearably slow. I was using Firefox, but tried out IE just to see what would happen, and it was faster, believe it or not, even if not what could actually be called fast.

  It may be faster, but Microsoft has an unfortunate history of bad security and casual ignorance of HTML standards.
  
  My general rule is that if Microsoft makes it, it's a safe bet that someone else makes something far better.

  Camlo, you bring up a very interesting thought. A year ago, I printed a list of all whom I follow. I had two purposes in mind: 1, to weed out the list (lots of folks I followed hadn't done anything on HP for a long time), and 2, to acknowledge those whom I kept with a comment on one of their Hubs, a kind of a good will gesture.
  
  It would have been helpful to have had a count to begin with, and even more helpful if there were a filter that went along with it where I could "quit following" those who had no activity, let's say, within the prior 6 months.
  
  Not only is there nothing wrong with wanting to know, there are good reasons for wanting to!

  Because each entry on that page is 5 lines.
  
  When you paste it into Excel, it will take up a certain number of rows. Each entry takes 5 rows. Divide by 5 to get the number who follow you.
  
  Try it - I think you might understand better if you just did it.

  Maybe it is different versions of Excel. Mine took five rows too, but I had to paste first into a notepad, then into Excel, to get rid of the pictures and other formatting.

  I didn't have to cut out any pictures or anything else...looks like Excel 2010 for Windows does something different than Excel 2008 for Mac.

  I'm not sure that it's the specific version of Excel that keeps the pictures. It happens to me when I copy and paste into any MS program, including Word. I haven't really tried with other non-MS software.

  I've now tried it with Word Perfect, and the pictures and formatting were erased. No need to use Notepad at all!

  It may also be the cut and paste.
  
  I use a paste buffer tool that allows me to hold multiple paste buffers and select what I want to paste. I couldn't exist without it!

  It could be your buffer vs Windows' buffer, your Excel version vs mine, Chrome vs IE...it could be lots of things we haven't even thought about yet. It's amazing that data transfers as homogeneously as it does across all these platforms and applications.

  I use Jumpcut. I especially like it because i can easily preload it with stuff I use frequently.
  
  If you search for "Windows Clipboard Utility", you'll find plenty for Windows.

  I'd suggest using my method (a couple of posts up) and then subtracting from the Total.
  
  Then you can double check your math using WE's method

  Pcunix - my math is so bad, anything to do with numbers is hard for me. My math teacher at college is tearing is hair out - I've been 'learning' binomial formulae for the past two weeks, and still can't get it.

I found another method:

In Google Chrome, type Find (CTR + F), followed by typing "Quit following" into the search box that appears.

Then the search box will show how many instances of "Quit following" there are = how many Hubbers you follow.

One other glitch in Pcunix's method is that the number is thrown off if any Hubbers you follow have "No Published Hubs."

  No it isn't. Not from Chrome, anyway. Maybe IE does dumb things - it's well known for screwing up perfectly good HTML.

  Interesting! The reason the number is different (for me) is that there is no line that corresponds with how many days/weeks/months ago the most recent hub was published. Without that line, an unpublished Hubber represents only four lines, instead of five. I don't get how Chrome gets around that. It happened the same way in the MS Word method I described above.

Another similar method, if you have MS Word:

Highlight and copy all Hubbers you follow.
Paste into a notepad (or other text file) to clean out the formatting, then select and cut that text.

Paste into a blank Word document.
Use the Find and Replace function:
Find ^p and Replace with ^t

Click Replace All. When it has finished, the box will report How many replacements. That will be the same number as the number in Excel that Pcunix mentioned above. Divide that number by 5 (and round up, if it's not a whole number). That gives the total number of Hubbers you follow.

  You can also paste in the page of Hubbers you are following, do a search and replace for "Quit following," select "replace all," and Word will tell you how many instances = how many you are following.
