Lack of exposure may really be a demoralizing phase for anyone. (You can say I may also been suffering from the same problem).
But my point here is not to get promotions for anyone, but what I observed here (hubpages and other article publishing websites too) is that the lack of exposure and followers really hurting the writer in many ways.
I saw tons of great articles, really useful and well-written at the same time, but because of the lack of followers and exposure, the gains are less and I would name this as a wastage (somewhat) of a REALLY USEFUL ARTICLE that went without being noticed though, it deserved to be.
And in contrast, I have seen some really poor articles being flooded with comments like "really useful", "nice hub" 23 beautiful votes, 17 awesome votes. In fact, I came up with the idea to post this topic, because I am coming after reading one of those NOT SO good articles, 5 mins ago.
P.S: I AM NOT DISCOURAGING ANYONE'S WORK (REALLY I'M NOT) I HAVE RESPECT FOR EVERYONE'S WORK, THAT'S I AM RAISING A POINT HERE, SO THAT OTHERS (with less exposure) MIGHT GET BENEFITS TOO.
The Question is: Any suggestions for such people and the lack of exposure?
well that's why hubbers are told to participate in the community by posting on the forums and commenting on others' hubs. Lack of exposure falls on the shoulders of the hubber themselves as there are many ways to be seen. HubPages tries to get new hubs noticed with the hub hopping option and I think they do really well. But if a hubber wants to be seen, they have to get out there and show themselves.
I agree with you that hubpages give exposure as much as they can. The 'related articles' and 'new hubs' are arguably good ways to promote one's hard work.
Life and the internet are not fair…
SEO and tweak, tweak, tweak, are all I can think of to recommend.
And back links; which I haven’t done, but am contemplating.
Back linking is surely a wonderful way to get your hubs up the order. I am really surprised that you haven't done that yet ... *Totally Amazed*
You can also gain more exposure by reading articles by other Hubbers (the good articles, of course ) and leaving comments. Then, others who read your comments may very well check out your writing.
You can also help the good articles to gain more exposure by rating them up, clicking on one of the comment buttons (funny, beautiful, etc.) and sharing the article in other locations - Twitter, Facebook, and other sites. That way, you are helping to maintain and even raise the quality of the articles on Hubpages that get the most exposure.
A lot of us have the same thought that you have: there are some highly rated articles here that don't really deserve the recognition they have received. Some other forum threads have carried discussions of this situation, and you may want to check them out. I myself have no problem rating down an article that others have rated up, if I think it is substandard in some way.
I hope that people start to recognize the standards as soon as possible, otherwise this problem will prevail in more or less everywhere (majority rules!)
Well, as you indicated, the best way to stop this is to stop participating in it
Intelligent comments almost always cause me to go look at the hubber's hubs.
PS - You have only been here for three weeks. Don't get too discouraged yet. Your exposure and following will increase as you continue to post Hubs, comments, and forum posts.
I am really riding on the positivity of some of the wonderful people like you, here at hubpages
This surely is one of the most wonderful online community. I learned a lot from here
Maybe we can set up a forum devoted to promoting the lesser known hubs. I know I need help in this area, so if anyone can offer me advice, I appreciate it.
You can have the best hub in the world, but if it isn't optimised for search engine traffic no amount of 'rating up' or backlinking will do it any good.
Properly optimised hubs don't need backlinked, nor do they need to be 'noticed' by other hubbers.

Hi,Do more experienced Hubbers have any useful tips for getting your article moved to a niche site? I kept seeing advice that goes something like "make sure you write a high-quality article" but it just seems so vague to me. I have 9 articles now and the only one that was moved to a niche...

When I first started at HubPages, I wrote several Hubs of around 800 to 900 words. Now the goals for creating quality Hubs include 1250 or more words of content. I've noticed that some Hubbers seem to be padding their Hubs with irrelevant or superfluous content to hit these goals, and I admit it...

I have been hub hopping lately and I am disgusted with the incoherent garbage that I am coming across - nothing but poorly translated articles of about 400 words, usually without even any formatting. I would say that more than half of the articles I randomly encounter are clearly nothing but spun...

We all know that we must keep our Articles fresh and up to date, right? Well, I'm sitting here staring at one of mine with the subject, "Idle Hubs". My problem is that for a while it managed to gather several thousand Views. But now, the whole Idle Hub scenario has been eliminated. SO, my...
