Proposed answer at the end of this article:
VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Benedict XVI has said the 65th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki should serve as reminders of the continued threat nuclear weapons pose and the need to eliminate them. The pope made the comments Saturday Nov 27 to Japan's new ambassador to the Holy See, Hidekazu Yamaguchi, who was presenting his credentials. Benedict said the continued presence of nuclear weapons in the world is a source of tension and mistrust among nations and said every year that passes renders the "horror" of the World War II atomic bombings even more poignant. Benedict didn't mention any nations by name, but he praised Japan for setting an example for always seeking to find peaceful and political solutions to conflicts.
ANSWER: Many American Catholics despite the tremendous moral pressure put upon them by their church continue their idolatrous worship of the blood-drenched false god NATION.
Considering the Vaticans history I'm not at all surprised they refused to accept.
If the Catholic Church, The Vatican, through the power of the Pope makes a erroneous statement, meaning a statement that is in conflict with Almighty God's teaching through The Holy Bible, then any Christian has the right to stand in opposition to what is being endorsed by the church.
To illustrate: For the longest time, The Catholic Church opposed Suicide claiming it to be a sin and condemning all those who ended their own life in such a fashion calling it a form of murder. BUT Today the Catholic Church says that any person who commits suicide and kills themself, is/was not in their right mind and not capable of forming an informed decision regarding the act, therefore they have no guilt for their action.
Another: For as long as I can remember, it was a sin for a Catholic to eat meat on Friday, excluding fish, but now a days, it's OK so long as you refrain on Good Friday. Hmmmmmmmm?
Because many American Catholics are Catholic in name only. They think they can pick the teachings of the Church that they wish to follow and still call themselves Catholic. We must pray that one day they will see the light and become true believers in Christ.
The history of the Vatican is such that it would be impossible to feel the need to bow to their will without a moral conviction that what they asked was right.
I'm sure the pope failed to take into account the fact that nations opposed to our idea of freedom would never give up the quest for nuclear weapons.
And a pope such as this one, with his personal conduct during the war, is not in a position to make any statements on moral issues.
Sorry , I respect American Catholics for their apparent failure to toe the line on this one.
Dr. Dean, the Catholic Churches' refusal and denial of sexual abuses makes any moral point they might make ineffectual. As it says in the Bible, first take the log out of your own eye, before considering the mote in your Brother's eye.
Over and over Pope Benedict not only turned a blind eye, but gave sanctuary to child rapists, giving them new parishes to despoil. There is a movie called"Deliver us From Evil", concerning one priest in California, who, rather than being stopped from raping children, was moved, over and over, into new parishes, where he could begin destroying whole new flocks of congregants. He raped not only girls, but boys, and engaged entire families in sex.
Why on earth would anyone, ever want to become part of such an evil system? Know the tree by it's fruit, for the good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree, evil. Please, by all means, answer me.
Having nuclear weapons from my view is most certainly crazy but it sounds like you're blaming just Christian for this condition and frankly I don't know where you got that from? There are plenty nonbelievers that support this insanity.

It is quite obvious that Catholics do not follow many things in the Bible. They look at the Church as the one that sets all standards. Why is it so?

1st Timothy 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Why would the Apostle Paul need to explain that Adam was formed first and then Eve? Don’t we all know this? But the Church at Ephesus was taught a lie about...
