I'm new to this... I wrote something about my Type 1 diabetes and all the stuff I've learned, and would love people - especially fellow diabetics who are losing motivation - to read it or even just see it!
How do I get people to see my Hub? Have I maybe posted it wrong?
It's called:
Diabetes-101-Understand-the-Basics
Any pointers would be great!
Hedley
It all boils down to the numbers game I'm afraid! Others will tell you to backlink your stuff, but I'll say to write more on the topic of diabetes if possible and link your hubpages together.
Also take a look at your keywords in the opening paragraph and try and make them more appealing to people actively searching for your health related content. Writing Hubpages can be a task in itself, but once you write a good handful of pages, you are in a much better position to get your stuff read.
Always read through the forums or search for help on any hubpages related questions using the search bar at the top of your Hubpages account!
hedleyg, probably the single best thing that I've done on hubpages is submit a hub of mine to the "Extreme hub makeover" forum, and in that forum, you CAN submit your hub's URL, so as the other hubbers can look right at it, and tell you how to improve it to make it most effective.
I'm completely serious about the Extreme Hub Makeover thing, I learned more in one day from the suggestions of the people in there than I'd learned in six months prior to that.
Ask questions, give answers to questions, leave comments, as well as make quality forum posts. This is a great way to start!
If you're here writing for the sake of being read, then just get more involved in the community. Spend a bit of time on the forums, read and comment on other people's hubs, etc.
If you're here to make money, you need to learn how to do keyword research. Go forth and read everything you can by Darkside, Sunforged, ThisIsOli, Marisa Wright, et.al.
And a huge welcome to HubPages!
coming into the forums is a good start, get to know fellow hubbers, read their work, and comment
Forums all the way. I've been here 3 weeks and reluctantly approached the forums. Now I wish I came here much sooner. The cliche of people on the internet saying "The community is really great!" makes me cringe, but it's actually true in this case. We've got an awesome group of folks here!
Posting this question in the forum is a really good start. For as long as the thread is kept alive you have a chance of other people checking out your Hub.
Asking a question is another way. You can answer your own question by writing another Hub then linking the two together.
Make friends through the forums and commenting on others' Hubs.
The forums are a great way to get noticed. When I first started here nothing happened, but a few posts in the forums and traffic went up.
A few more posts, interacted with people, they found out more about me, and it went down again. But hey, it was nice while it lasted.
Come on now Mr Ewbie, you are being too modest. You Hubber Score sits well above mine most days so you must be doing something right.
Hi Karanda, just trying a new angle, the false modesty thing. If I can fake it well enough then I can maybe reach 100.

I just went through all people I have been following and purged the ones that have no articles and no activity. I am quite surprised to see how many people have left HubPages over the years and I wonder what made them leave in the first place. I understand the volatility of writing online but there...

Do you more experienced Hubbers believe writing about controversial topics like politics hurts or help your page traffic? For example, if you disagree with someone's political Hub, will you not visit their other Hubs?

There are a lot of us who haven't been feeling safe on the forums. They've felt stalked, harassed and browbeaten.Sadly, some folks go with the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it in their posts. For an excellent post on why we need Forum Moderators, check out what Makingamark says here...

I took a hiatus for awhile from Hub Pages! However, in the past week or so, I have added new hubs participated in forums, asked a question or two, participated with the Hub Hopper, have read some Hubs, yet my Hubber Score is lower than it was when I was doing nothing. I don't get it!

I've been looking at the Latest Hubbers and doing a lot of HubHopping lately and noticed a pattern. Based upon some of what I have seen I am making some suggestions. I'm sure HubPages staff and moderators see all sorts of patterns to spam and poorer quality Hubs. Here's some suggestions...
