Which Websites Got Ranked Up In Google Algo Update?

   We know that we've been badly hit by the algo update a. In order to reach at some constructive conclusion, I would like to study which all websites got in thought the changes. Since many of the sites got low rated and the traffic is still constant, some other sites might have definitely found some significant increase in their traffic and revenue. I guess eHow.com is one such site. Does anybody know of other such sites? Did the traffic in any of the websites hosted by you surge? Any helful links of previous forum discussions regarding this topic would be helful.

   I did notice one of my blogspot articles near the top of page 2 of Google. Thought that was strange, but good though. Probably should check other blogs to see if they have moved up as well.

   My blogs have seen a significant increase in traffic.  Interestingly...even a few very old blogs I've nothing with in awhile (oops) have seen traffic this past week.

   Not a big mystery.  Content farms and websites that are spammy and have little content went down.  Quality original content sites went up.

         Well - YouTube gained. Goodness knows that could not be considered a user generated content farm. 8 million 30 second videos with a page full of ads.

         I believe I have a quality site, it gets 90 % of its traffic from google and I am getting 30% more traffic since the update.   Aint no need for me to dig any deeper into this.

      Not necessarily, they ranked sites they thought had original content and many great sites such as Hubpages suffered

         What makes hubpages so great.  Just because your on there.  They allowed any person to write any 50 word copied article and post it here.

         Hubpages is a content farm.  Fair or not, Google is making these pages work harder in their own right rather than treating them like one big website with a shared rank.

   Autoblogs are ranking high so that's pretty good evidence against all the claims that matt cutts and his fanboys are harping on web. Adding to that, why the hell forum posts from 2001/2002 are holding top position of search results in this update ? Oh wait, they're satisfied with the quality of search results.

         All I can say is that my pages for content farms went down, my pages on my own url or blogger went up.  So that matches what the said they were trying to do, in my experience at least.

            So you are judging by the position of your own sites. Surely yours are the highest quality sites around, as well as tile's.
            
            However people who actually search using google report the drop in quality across the board...

               I am judging bases on the pattern that Google is pushing content farms down and other sites up.  Others are reporting similar effects, and it's what Google themselves say the are doing.  That has nothing to do with quality, just categories.  'Content farm' is a *type* of website not a quality of website--Google is generally trying to (and more or less succeeding at) ranking them lower for whatever reason.  Them's just the facts.

                  Still fail to see what this has to do with koolaid on the other side. After update google serves more crap then before, though of a slightly different variety. Those are facts, too.

                     I am still not sure what Koolaid I am drinking, but saying Google is not pushing down the rank of content farms (happy to call them something else if it avoids a quality implication) must be drinking something.

       BTW my hubs in the 60dc - pregnancy and baby hubs are doing ok - some maintained their rankings, some even went up, however my separate account just for sales got a beating (they have minimum backlinks). I think that due to backlinks that is why my 60dc hubs maintain views. I need to do backlinking for the rest of my hubs.

    I find the Google search results horrible, for many topics, after their Panda update.  I have now switched to Bing, and will use it unless I have a specific reason to Google something.

    From the contrasting opinons here so far, I guess that a consensus is still not possible. Some have their traffic on quality bolgs and niche websites go up and many others complain of low quality results appearing in top rankings for the searches. I think we should regard this as a problem with update and not with us.
    
    Im really confused and have almost paused writing articles since I dont know where will they rank. For the sake of our future, I request that we discuss together and formulate some sort of strategy ourselves on two things by comparing some live examples.
    
    1. What kind of topics to write in Article directories next
    2. The type of niche website/blogs that can be started next

    Perhaps a more neutral term would be something like 'branded content platforms'.
