I've been commenting on various Hub articles. Most of them will say "However, it may not appear until it has been approved by the author." That is fine. Even though it is still under moderation, I am still able to see my submitted comment and still edit them for the next five minutes (because I am logged in). While other people will not see the comment until it is approved. This is fine and this is what I expect and this is the way it should be.
However, I notice that on rare occasions, after making a comment as described above, I am not able to see or edit my comment. It simply does not show up in the comment list.
BlissfulWriter,
When you are in edit mode on any hub, you will notice an edit button is also available for the comments capsule. One of the options a hub author can select is for comments to not be visible until after moderation. I am sure this is the situation you have run into.
It is not possible to know in advance whether or not any given author has checked this option. If you are concerned that this might happen, leaving you unable to edit your comments, it would pay to spend a few moments proofreading your comments for typos and to be sure they say what you meant to say before hitting the 'submit' button.
Don't let that stop you from leaving comments--the majority of Hubbers appreciate hearing from their readers, and many will also reply back with a comment of their own, or at least a "thank you."
or maybe we can still see and edit our comments up to ten minutes more after we posted it even though the author opted for moderation.
I don't think so, prettydarkhorse. The comments are set to be editable for 5 minutes; some authors don't get around to moderating for 24 hours or more...
I understand, what you said about taking time to edit it b4 submitting it is good!
It happens from time to time that the comment vanishes, no option to edit, because the author has specified that comments must be approved before they appear. It is an unpleasant surprise every time, no chance to correct errors.

Hi Hub Techies!I'm running IE 9 on Windows 7 Ultimate, SP 1.This is a very precise situation:In this situation:1) I write a comment on a hub.2) The hub author has organized comments in reverse chronological (newest at the top) order.3) Possibly only an issue if several comments already exist.I take...

Some comments I make on hubs are immediately unapproved - why?In two instances, I made a comment on a hub that didn't appear; it just said it had to be approved by the author first, and it thanked me for participating in the HubPages community. When I looked at my activity on my profile page, it...

Since this feature was deleted, HP staff have told us that this would be reinstated. It does not matter to all of us, but I know that in my case the readers find it very helpful. A former staff member told me last year that this would become a reality in June of 2021. That did not happen. If it is...

After replying to a comment, an author is given five minutes to make any changes to his/her comment. What if later on the author wants to make changes or edit his/her comments e.g. correcting gammar mistakes?Another area I would consider it useful to inclide editing feature is in Q&A. For...

When a Hub author selects "Comments must be approved before they appear" in their comments capsule, you as the commenter don't have the opportunity to preview or edit your comment once you click "Submit".You do have that opportunity when the author doesn't select that option.It...

In the past week I've had three different comments that I approved, and then they went back to unmoderated status and I had to approve them again. It hasn't been happening with all of my comments, so far just those three -- has anyone else had this happen?
