My hub was not edited or modified since it was published some 6 months ago. Today I notice that my Hub needs revision because of  Watermarked or Pixelated Photos or Videos
Could someone explain what this means or what I need to d? It is perhaps easiest to just delete the Hub and publish elsewhere.

There needs to be more clarity when giving instructions to revise a Hub especially for newer hubbers. I write for numerous site and it is the first time I have received such a message.
    Thanks

Although not the technical definition, a pixelated photo is one that looks blurry or out of focus. You can often see the pixels, or squares, that make up the photo. Usually (but not always) you an fix this by just making the photo smaller. So try a half or quarter width on your photo capsule.

A watermark is simple some type of print on the photo, usually the photographer's mark that helps to prevent copyright violations. There's nothing you can do in this case except get rid of the photo.

does this mean we cannot watermark our own photos to protect them ?

What possible Google issue could this cause I wonder.  Maybe it is about our pics in the Hubpages picture bank and so the pics not being useful to them in a financial sense ?

Yes, we can watermark our own pictures. Maddie said, I think it was Maddie,  she has done it to a few of her own. I can't remember what forum post that was mentioned on. They want to eliminate those watermarked pictures that people do not have a right to use on a commercial page.

thanks for such a simple and useful answer - why don't you apply for a moderator job at Hubpages, you would be most popular !

Thanks for all your replies. The problem is I would need to delete all the photos since I still don't knw which is watermarked and which is pixelated. they all look fine to me.

Pixelated pictures can be reduced to half size or quarter size in the Edit mode

Hi Joan, sometimes watermarked is hard to see.  One of my hubs was flagged because of watermark.. the watermark was so light, but.. if you look at your pictures a little to the side, either side, you can see the watermark better.  I hope this helps.  The pixelated pics.. you can just post it half size.. that works for me as I also use a lot of photos in my hubs. Good luck.
