Gasoline Price Gouging

   I have listened to and read everthing that crosses my path re the deplorable increases in the prices drivers must pay for gas.  Having done so I have come to the conclusion that the biggest culprits are price gougers.  What is it about Americans that makes us so willing to yell conspiracy as regards most any thing except those which negatively affect the most of us?  Why can't we come together and say "enough already" about gas price  gouging as we do that which has esoteric consequences if any for the general public? Am I the only person who sees acceptance of the constant rise in gas prices as another example of the gullibility of the average American Jane and Joe? Why arent there banner bearing crowds in the streets to just say no to industry giants and policy makers?
   
   I am really angry that I must choose between buying gas for the week and eating out and will join any fight against it.  Come on my fellow Americans...get some backbone.

      Minuspc, it is not gas price gouging that is causing the increasing in gas prices. Inspectors are already checking for that. It is the increased worldwide demand for it and the price is set by the oil speculators based on events taking place in the Persian Gulf region. The oil companies do not set the prices, they just receive the higher profit because of the price increase. The price of a barrel of oil went down briefly, but with the news of the death of Osama Bin Laden it went up and will continue to go up until the tension in the Persia Gulf region eases. Plus oil prices generally go up when the dollar is weak and it is very weak right now in the world economy.

         Melpor, Thank you for your input.  Indeed the price of oil is high because the dollar is weak.  Another item to look at is the profit per gallon.  Some of my investigation on profit per gallon has been shocking.

      Yeah I think that the whole price gouging is getting ridicoulous, but actually I think it is more gouging coming from the Oil Company whether than the gas stations themselves

   Don't bet on it.  I have seen the grins and greasy paws at gas stations.  Owners are not getting the new cars from selling slim jims.
