Unpublished hub lower author score?

   Hi, I am just wondering, I started a hub just so that I wouldn't forget the topic I was writing on, but i didnt have enough time to finish it, so I left it unpublished. Now, a day later the score of the hub has gone down! Why is this? Will it effect my author score? Should I just publish then delete the hub and start it over? Thanks!

      I noticed I had started a hub with an error in the title so I deleted it and started on the hub again.  The hub dropped 3 points when I rewrote the hub.  I may just rework the title, or wait.

   You would actually have to ask Staff if an unpublished hubscore has any effect on your authorscore. From what I can tell, it does, but I could be just imagining it.
   
   However, as for the score of the individual hub going down, it should not worry you, because it makes no difference as long as the score doesn't drop below 40 and your authorscore remains above 75.
   
   On a side note- the score has too many factors that go into it, which is why I say and many others will agree, don't worry about it. It will go up eventually.

   Scores fluctuate.  Any activity you do/don't do is one thing that goes into the score, but other things are going on that have nothing really to do with what you do at any one moment.  People's scores often fluctuate within a 5-point range.  You just have to write your best Hubs, do whatever it is you do on here, and not pay attention to the score.  People who try to write decent Hubs find that the score goes to a decent range within a very short time.  It looks to me like any action you take may/may not rock the score from where it is and put it into a "shake-up" mode.  Where it lands for the moment or day, however, seems to be determined by factors outside of, indirectly from, any one action someone does or doesn't take (as long as someone isn't doing something like too many spammy links, etc.)  (This is why everyone will tell you to ignore your score and just do your best to write good Hubs.  If you do that your score will get to a good range.)  (That's why you got the "emphatic no".  You can't control your score directly, and if you pay attention to it at all you'll pretty much go nuts worrying about something over which you have no direct control.)
   
   I've actually noticed that if I write (and publish) a Hub my score drops almost immediately, and then after a day or two of (apparently) settling, it goes up again (but only for awhile anyway, because they just fluctuate anyway).
   
   Scores for individual Hubs start at a low point and work their way up (or not) once the Hub is published for awhile.  It can still keep changing, though.

   A unpublished hub has a hubscore and contributes to your overall hubscore.  So yes, when you have an unpublished hub with no traffic its low score my effect your overall score.  But hubscores are completely arbitrary.  If having an unpublished drafts helps you get more hubs finished, keep doing it!

   The hubscore will go down on the first day but will continuously go up even if you haven't published it.  I have one right now that I started a few days ago but lost interest and haven't touched it for a couple of days now.. the hubscore has gone up to 60!  I was thinking of deleting it, but I guess now I have an incentive of finishing the darn thing.

   Based on what I have able to decipher; The hubs get scored based on the words in their tittle; The tittle is separated into its individual words. Each word is given a score with the most common words receiving the lowest scores. After it is published the scores fluctuate depending on the number of visits.
   
   Example: The Life of A Journalist to Hp its the-life-of-a-journalist. All the words in this title are common words, so the staring score for this would be at around 48 to 50.
   
   Example 2: Soft Focus and Kirlian Photography. The words soft,and,photography are rather common so their score is low. Focus and Kirlian are not that common so their scores are higher. This seems to be the process by which an unpublished hub get its score. I have several unpublished hubs on which I have applied this theory at it appears to be correct.
   
   Therefore, the constant advice of using good keywords in niche topics appears to be the best advice.
