Swine flu at Notre Dame

My daughter just called from the town where I grew up (where she still lives with my son-in-law and my grandson). She said although there's only one confirmed case at Notre Dame, there are dozens of suspected cases, so many that it's all over the local news and it's totally freaking her out. She said you can't turn on the TV down there without seeing it.

I guess what happened was these kids go to Mexico for Spring Break, so they think some of them brought the virus back. The CDC has set itself up right on campus to test kids and answer questions, but it takes a week or two to confirm each case, so it could be lots of cases once they get the results back.

Obama is supposed to speak there in two weeks. I wonder if this will change his plans.

I think the President will oblige. Its recommended that people keep a few feet distance between themselves if public gatherings are called upon and he will have a mandatory space between him and the students plus a ring of bodyguards in-between wink I will be quite busy at home helping with our own community pandemic plan. hmm lots surfing, yappin on da phone, emails n research ... I goin nuts already, tongue lol

Wow it's so funny that I live in Mexico right now, and you guys are closer to the flu than I am. For some reason it has skipped my part of Mexico so far.

My family back in the states has the flu in their city, and not a single confirmed case in Manzanillo yet!

Yeah, unlike those silly girls at the World Health Organization.

What do THEY know about disease? big_smile

It's much more rational to listen to some guy on the internet in Mexico who happens to not be sick than the CDC or WHO. That's much more rational.
