   OK, so I found it a few years after the event, but it still brought a tear to my general extremely dry eyes and sent a small ripple through my otherwise cold and hard heart...

   I can never understand this. Particularly when it is one of the most highly desired breeds around, with the number of little girls who place these on their santa lists.

      Oh my goodness, that is too, too awful.  My little dog Vivi was a rescue.  She was underweight (but not that thin!) when I adopted her, but worse than that, she has a BB in her back.  Somebody shot her!  She's also terrified of big dogs, belts, newspapers... I shudder to think what her first home was like.  I will never understand how someone could be so cruel to such a small fuzzy bundle of love.

         I can never understand it either, words cannot express the vitriol that I possess towards them. I guess that we just don't know the reasons.
         
         But unless they are as a result of severe mental health problems, I can never understand why people don't make the decision to pass their dog on to somebody else long before it got to that stage.
         
         For example, if I decided tomorrow that I couldn't afford to keep my pug (although I would sooner become a career criminal than give somebody else my pug) I would be finding her a lovely new home myself. If I couldn't find her a lovely new home, I would be taking her to a rehoming centre myself, not leaving her in a cage with no food.

      It is really sad to see animals being tortured.
      How easily they are neglected by certain people.
      It is really cruel and sad to see the dog in such a state.

   I think that it is very important that people share photos like this, it evoked a bit of an emotional response in me, and then resulted in a donation (albeit a modest one) to a dog rescue charity.

      This was the saddest story. That poor dog was just skin and bones. How can people do this? Why do they get a dog in the first place?

         I really don't know, I've read stories about dogs being bought by people who then develop mental health problems, or brain disease, or alzheimer's, etc.
         
         I like to think that many of these dogs get in this way as a result of people not being in their natural frame of mind. However much I like to believe that, there are probably a fair share of simply horrible disgusting people too.
         
         I do have to say that my first reaction was to imagine a former pug owner being put in a cage and left with no food for a few months, but I suppose I know better than to develop thirst for vigilante style revenge.

   I knew I shouldn't have even clicked on this link, I'll be crying for hours.  This is why I love animals and I barely like most people.  Animals should be treated with so much love and respect....I just don't understand why or how anyone can ever mistreat one....

      It was probably the first tear that I had in my eye for a year or more.
      
      I guess that we just have to hope that this pug survived and became fit and healthy, and learnt to live happily with and trust some new loving owners.
      
      The vast majority of dog owners no doubt love their pets very much and treat their dogs very well, but I will never understand how it could get that bad...

      I bought my pug as a puppy, but I decided a while back that if I were to get a second, or another dog in the future, I would probably look to take a rescue dog.
