A very sane exchange!

   Yesterday driving down Jackson's road, I saw a young man carrying two car wheels with tyres on them along the footpath/sidewalk in the direction I was heading. They looked heavy.
   
   I pulled up and he walked up to the passenger side window smiling, with a "can I help you?" look on his face.
   I think he believed I was going to ask him for help, perhaps directions.
   
   I pointed at the hatch on my tiny Honda, and said the wheels will stand up in the boot. He walked to the rear, lifted the hatch and deftly stacked to two wheels in then climbed in the passenger seat.
   
   We smiled at each other like we had some sort of joint conspiracy of helping others going that only we understood.
   
   No need for conversation or a gushing thank you, I was in a hurry myself and he was on a mission to get his car mobile and we both seemed to tune in on those factors.
   
   I knew his car would appear up front with one leg cocked in the air and a missing wheel or he would have said something to inform me if it was to be otherwise.
   
   his lady friend was waiting when pulled up behind his Subaru. He had the wheels out of the car, and was smiling as he said "well done Sir!" and I drove off. We had not wasted time, we had a good experience with another human being, and I probably lost less than a minute.
   
   Lifted my day to have such a simple yet positive experience.

   How wonderful to know that there are still decent human beings out there. It brightens my day, well night, to know that two strangers can help each other.

   You know, earnest, one of the things that I like about you is that you share these positive and uplifting experiences as they happen to you.
   
   Not only is it nice to know that there are good people out there being good to each other, but that some of them spread that positivity to the best of their ability.

   I can't even remember the amount of times when I was a truck driver I helped people out in trouble on the highways or back roads and how many times the same happened to me. It does feel good to have selflessly of your own free will made the decision to lend a hand.
   
   There are times when giving someone help can be a bad experience. Here's my example of that.
   
   I was in thick traffic in my semi on a back highway outside Harrisburg, PA heading over towards Hershey,PA. It was rush hour and this road was jam packed. At a red light with 4 lanes of traffic in each direction I stopped behind a pickup truck about 10' behind them and yes when the light turned green their truck stalled.
   
   With no way to get around them as all of the cars were doing their usual impatient dance thinking I was the one blocking traffic and they instantly jam packed everything around me. So I get out of the truck and go up to see if I can help them out. In the truck are 2 men both around my size (not small,not weak). They tell me the truck has stalled out and they had been having trouble with the ECM (electronic control module)so this truck is not going to start back up and needs to be cleared off the road.
   
   The pickup truck had to be at least a 2 ton work truck with the full tool boxes built up in it and duel back tires. The only place they could be pushed to was across the intersection so I say I can pull my semi up close enough so that we can use the front of my truck as leverage to prop against to get it moving. Now mind you I am also on a tight schedule and needed them out of my way to get to my delivery on time so I was helping in this situation without much of a choice.
   
   So I pull up my truck and notice the guy in the passenger seat is not moving to come out and help push. I holler up and say hey buddy you gonna help? He says nothing they just sit their not even looking back at me, but remember I need them out of my way. So here I go single handed I prop my feet against my truck and my hands against the back of theirs and push out with all I'm worth and get her moving. Risking my own safety as well not to mention as cars normally have no patience to stop for anything and would gladly run you over than be 1 minute late getting home.
   
   Well I made it safely across the intersection and pushed it on up into a parking lot entrance just enough till it was off the road. Go up and say their you go buddy good luck. And he says well why did you stop pushing now we are blocking the parking lot entrance. I said well best start F#$%^&* pushing then huh a#$hole and walked away.
   
   So not a great experience trying to help someone who probably didn't deserve the help to begin with and probably had never lifted a hand to help anyone else in their life.

   This is great guys! I am well pleased you found it uplifting.
   
   I am very selfish to be honest.
   
   I just happen to believe it does me good to give as well as take. ]
   
   I realised as a kid that if I am to really enjoy life, giving and taking is the high road. It has served me well to think this way.
   
   Not everyone we try to help is receptive, grateful or would necessarily even be caring.
   
   It doesn't matter though, if you don't have any expectation you will never feel as if you lost anything.
   
   I do it for myself. I'm a greedy little sod!

      Well, regardless of your motivation, it was a kind thing to do, and I'm certain that it was appreciated by the gentleman with the tire trouble.

   Goes to show how wonderful Hubbers are. No motivation required. Just the desire to help another Human Being in need. Expecting nothing in return. A nice ending to my day.
