The Story Game

   When I was in high school, most of my friends wrote stories. When we found ourselves together at lunch or in study hall, one of our favorite past times was what we called the Story Game.
   
   Everyone took out a notebook and wrote a few lines from their current project. There was no need to supply context, and the lines could be as long as they wanted, though we tried to keep it to two or three sentences. Then, we all passed our notebooks to the left, and added a line. By the time the notebook reached the original writer, they usually found their story had gone in an entirely different direction from what they imagined.
   
   Anyway, since I'm a rather new Hubber, I thought it would be fun to introduce myself and get to know people by starting a Story Game thread here. I'll start with a few lines from a story of mine.

   Laura propped Shan up against her body, carefully balancing his head on her shoulder, and held the bowl of honeyed milk to his lips.
   
   "Slowly now, darling," she murmured. "Don't make yourself sick."
