    Ok, So I'm an old fart , but I am sick of hearing about the two hikers being negotiated for , who "found" themselves prisoners for to years in Iran!  I should consider this an ahha! moment ! I know ! So I have learned this : If you go hiking in a country that hates the whole western world YOU  deserve everything they can throw at you. As far as I'm concerned our media  and government shouldn't have spent a dime to get these two morons back. Just saying....

    A bit extreme, but I have to admit that many people are naive as to how dangerous some places can be.

      I wonder if Naive is the word.  Perhaps ignorance is more likely the discription,  dont get me wrong I'm all for human rights , but dont temp the devil and laugh in the face of the dragons and then expect the media to make out that you are an innocent!

        I think naive is more accurate than ignorance because it is easy to expect teh world to be a fairytale safe place when you are travelling.

        The first mugging is usually the worst when you are on the road, but it definitely teaches you a lot.

      Jami , I have long ago decided that people in the middle east  dont even want peace, prosperity , and the freedom of choices.  They are tribal , sectarian , sedicious. Once an old man told me along time ago that some civilizations of culture have to wake up in the morning and slam there fingers in a door just to make themselves think in  evil ways. Iran , afghanistan , these people are all like that. ....:-}

    Well, I still think a country is obliged to rescue dumb young citizens who weren't actually doing anything malicious.

        It is not "for" anything.  It is because citizenship is a meaningful thing and you don't lose it due to common foibles like being an idiot.

    I think when the morons got back to America , the should have bee n imprisoned , for treason against American tax payers , or they should have been left there , Just because you find away to express your freedom by visiting other countries DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE WELCOME THERE!! they should have been lefdt there to rot , just one more piece of political means to spend tax payers money ! , its a damn shame. and totally sickening... if they had enough money to travel there , they shouldve had enough money to get back , on their own , and if not , they shouldve stayed there !
