I hypothesis that the primary motivation is fear, as in being motivated to perform certain tasks to avoid the consequences of not doing so.
The second motivation is pleasure, as in being motivated to perform certain tasks to accomplish attainment.
And people are motivated by necessity. The motivation to go to work, is based on the need to have a roof over our heads or to have food on the table.
But that could also indicate fear. The fear of not having food and a roof over our heads.
Good question. I'm thinking on it. We can also be motivated by love or creativity? Perhaps?
The artist is motivated by fear as well - the fear of not measuring up, constantly trying to prove the muse - and by love, the stirring within the artists' bosom which cannot be explained - once again moved by the muse.
I think fear is perhaps the stongest motivation for humans, even when we don't recognise this as the reason we are doing something. Life is uncertain and we can feel insecure, never knowing what the future will bring. So perhaps one motivation why we do things is to divert out attentions away from the fear. If we are keeping busy, we hope not to give in to our fears.
I think fear is a great motivator, we, mostly want and need some sense of security. I do believe there are other motivators though, greed for one.
Absolutely agree on the most base level. And a very unfortunate look into society. Also not necessarily an inherent position for humans but one dictated by current circumstance.
So it can be said about anything. I am going now to wake a guest up from a nap as requested. It could be from fear of repercussions if I do not.
But that is not true here. It is their wish.
Needing to be respected and liked? A sense of responsibility?
You guys realize this is in response to an original spam post that was then deleted, right> I wish they would delete the entire threads,,,,
I am just saying, what seems like the first post, wasn't for half the thread. So they are now out of context.
I also believed this was posted by Paradigmsearch, as a discuss type of post. Looking again, I can see this is a bit odd.

We have probably all been there, but given my favourite topic is writing about cruises and tips and tricks for getting the most out of a cruise holiday.... well lets just say the changes to the world over the last few years have made me feel aimless. When the cruises stopped, so did I, and I have...

What helps get you motivated to work out or exercise?Sometimes after a long day of class or work I have no energy to workout. I have my own motivators, but I'm curious as to what gets everyone else ready for a workout when you'd be almost as happy to crash on the sofa and unwind for a few hours.

I hear many people talk about wanting to exercise, get in shape, etc, but many of them talk about something they have no motivation to do. What motivates you to exercise, what discourages you?
