Since the seasons are changing, a lot of us are making some changes in our homes and gardens to prepare for the winter months.

I say we make the most of these chores and write a Hub about these important tasks! The 'home' category is a very valuable one, and tips on things like cleaning out gutters, prepping gardens for winters, heat and weather-proofing windows and roofs will be very useful.

If you'd like to join in on this week's topic by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Click here to visit this week's topic.
    2)    Click the green button "answer this question".
    3)    Click the gray button below the box (leave that empty) that says "make a Hub about it."
    4)    Give your Hub a very specific title, like Easy Summer Gardening Projects for Kids or Challenging Summer Activities for Teens
    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this forum thread and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

I look forward to reading your seasonal guides! Also, if you have a suggestion for our next topic, let me know! We're always on the lookout for great new WTI themes big_smile

Here is my contribution, a hub on how to prepare your garden for the winter, whether it is a vegetable garden or a flower garden.

A good idea for a topic.  I wrote a hub listing some common sense ideas to prepare for winter early before the snow flies.  I was brainstorming about what exactly to write concerning "winter preparation" when I remembered that last year my neighbor knocked on my door the day after a major storm and asked to borrow my shovel.  Apparently both Lowe's and Home Depot didn't have any worth buying.  He had broken his during the summer trying to lever rocks out of his landscaping and forgot to replace it.

So thinking about my neighbor led me to write this hub, which is located at:

How neat! I love Hubs inspired by real life problems or chores, and this one is really useful!  I'd never think of tree maintenance or snow melters... though I'm not really an expert at living where it snows, hahaa!

To tell you the truth, Simone, I wouldn't have thought of tree maintenance either, except to cut them down for firewood, except that where I lived last year in Maine we had a lot of high winds, which took down quite a few trees in the area.  Even if it didn't take whole trees down, a lot of people had roof and siding damage from falling limbs or branches scraping against their homes.  So I thought it was something to include.

Thank you very much for your comment.

Thanks Simone, glad you liked the hub. I enjoyed taking part in the WTI, and plan to do it again. One question - can I do another one on this topic or is it only one per week? (I have another idea you see, since in Scotland we have 9 months of winter and then some rain! smile)

Simone maybe a topic for the weekly inspiration should deal with the true meaning of Christmas, history and symbol according of the writers specific ethnicity what do you think?

Thanks for the nice encouragement.  We do try to have fun every season, even though winter in Nebraska is often cold and dreary....Hope others find the hub useful too.  I noticed it needed a bit more editing, oops!

Absolutely fabulous, this! It's a good reminder to me, too, for in addition to considering adding an insulating film to my windows, I should fix the huge gaps around the edges through which cold air is constantly flowing!

Just want to say that I have been truly surprised and delighted by the result of taking part in the WTI. My hub is now my 4th most viewed hub after being up for less than a week. And while my earnings are still tiny, I have earned more this month than any other and around three quarters of that was in the past week. I will definitely be taking part again, and recommend it to anyone.

That's a good one, calicoaster! Though... now I really want a summer house!! I guess they're a bit of a hassle to prep for winters, but a little summertime cottage would be a lovely thing to have.

    The new WTI is up!
In line with our habit of covering holidays well ahead of time (and thanks to kat11's awesome suggestion), we'll be discussing the real meaning of major winter holidays.
I hope you'll join in on the fun big_smile http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/85984
