   I am a novice in HubPages so the question may seem naive, but can anybody point me out the significance of the number shown on every Hubber's profile pic???

      If it's either penis or breast size the news is going to come as a shock to my husband!
      
      Now about these legendary "do follow" links that only occur when you're mysteriously over 75.  I just C&P the web address on the top of my hubpage, pop it on my barely active blog which is set to "do follow" and somehow Google will love me more?

         It depends what keywords your blog is about - if you're main keywords are "cooking food" or "red cars" you'll need hundreds of backlinks to compete with the top websites.
         
         Plus, you need to link to your blog from hubs on the same topic, otherwise the link is almost worthless.

      Didn't you know?  They roll dice and throw bones to come up with it.  Or maybe a usik, as you say.
      
      Actually, about the only thing anyone knows is that it needs to be above 75 to get dofollow links in your hubs.

            A dofollow link is one that googles spiders will follow to see where it goes.  As far as SEO goes, a "nofollow" link is worthless - the spiders simply ignore it.
            
            A reader can still follow it, and it can produce traffic thereby, but it won't help rank the hub at all.
            
            More to the point, what is a usik?  But I leave that one to you...

   Just as penis size is no indication of ability to satisfy a real woman, so hubber scores and individual hub scores are no indication of the ability to satisfy the one and only meaningful criterion of earning potential.

   You do n't need to cut and paste, the faster way to add a hub to your blog is to use the share button at the bottom of the hubs you wish to add - it offers a range of sites including Blogger.
   
   If you add one of your tracker codes to the URL you also might gain from a sign up coming from your tracked URL bringing in traffic to HubPages.

   Ok--much fun going on here, but seriously, I'm confused about the 'do follow' thing.  Is that an invisible tracker, or does it have to do with the green 'follow' button at the tops of the pages?
   
   Also--'...Google crawls to see where it goes...' ... as in what else is in the article, or looking for outbound links?  I have no success with inbound links, because I write more here than on my blog, and my blogs get very little traffic.

      Say you have a hub that gives a link to one of mine as a source of more information.  When the spiders come crawling your hub they will see that link and, if it's dofollow, will follow it to my hub.
      
      I thus gain some "google juice" to my hub because you found it valuable enough to link to it - it will help raise me in the SERP's.  Because my hub is so massively authoritative (don't I wish!) you might even get a little juice to your hub because you are using such great information that came from my wonderful hub.  I might get indexed a little faster because the spiders found the link and, through it, found my brand new hub as well.
      
      On the other hand, if it is a nofollow link the spiders don't follow it, don't see my hub and neither you nor I get any benefit from it as far as SEO goes.  Readers can still click it and visit me, which is nice, but it won't help raise me in the SERP's.

         Dofollow/nofollow is basically a coding change that is inserted on sites. It's not just hubpages that has it - every site on the internet either has do/nofollow coding on all its links.
