   Daily Beast:  Newt Gingrich has peaked, Ron Paul is surging. Is it showtime for Jon Huntsman? Mark McKinnon and George Caudill on the jumble that's likely to come after the caucuses.

         We can agree on that, Evan. He's an untrustworthy character compared to all the other candidates, especially your buddy, Ron Paul. With Paul what you see is what you get, not a what shell is the pea under game. As my grandfather said, "as crooked as a dog's hind leg."

   Ralph, I think we are seeing the results of all the time Newt invested in Iowa in the previous two years...probably more than all other candidates put together...he practically lived there. Once the Iowa decisions are made, I think we will see Newt's efforts plateau a bit. In fact, some polls already show a significantly diminished position over the past week.  The Republican establishment is overpoweringly hooked on the concept of old party line name recognition which tends to play to both Newt and Mitt. In my opinion, that is the same mistake the conservative side of the aisle made in 2008 when they decided it was McCain's "turn to run".  This election, at least from a conservative perspective, will hinge greatly on getting on message and staying there for the duration. A candidate, regardless of how popular they might be, will fail in their effort this time around if they cannot accomplish that task. As Bill Clinton demonstrated with his win in employing the focus..."it's the economy, stupid" the message must be on point and clear and hammered home at every opportunity with the American public. If that action does not take place, it will matter little who dominates the conservative nomination process. WB

   I think you speak wisely. Sound bite debates and saying what they think voters want to hear no longer works. I'm not sure there is a Republican candidate who can rise to the task. There's too much division within the party.

      I think Huntsman will end up a VP candidate with Romney, or perish the thought, Gingrich.
      On second thought, two Mormons on the ticket might be one too many.

   Newt Gingritch has more baggage than Southwest Airlines.  Only his doesn't ride free although he seems to feel the a couple mei culpas paid the frieght.
   Actually I think he cannot and should not win the bid.  The independents don't care for him.  The teaparty confuses me with their acceprance of him/  Ron Paul may be the only credible politician on earth. The Republican Party successfully sidelined him in the last election.  The real GOP only wants the likes of Karl Rove and his bandits in action. Aanyone else is a threat to their neo-conservative shell game. To me it's Ron Paul or no one atall.
