I unpublished a few of my health hubs just now as they aren't performing and I would like to concentrate on other niches that are getting more than one view a week unlike those
Hope it helps!
I'd put them back. 3 months is too soon to give up on a hub.
I have been moving my poems to my poetry blog because poems go dead after being initially read, except for a few that seems to be popular by search engines. I may leave those. I also have removed one of my novelettes because it's being edited for publishing and I will remove the other one soon. There is a huge dip in my views because of that, because the poems and novelettes have received close to 10,000 views between them.
I wouldn't remove the health hubs because they may just take off when you least expect. I was going to put my "Down Syndrome" hub on my health blog when all of a sudden the Google traffic started trickling in. It gets a steady search engine traffic every single day.
The only reason I created a health blog in the first place was that my hubs on "Yeast infection" and "Effects of Viagra on blood Pressure" had the ads disabled. When I checked Google they had no problem with those articles so I placed them on a blog with ads. Those hubs were two of my best but made me no money here.
Lol, since 80% of my hubs are health-related, I can tell you that health is not the best niche to write on. I just feel bad about all the days I toiled writing about diabetes and what not.
So what are you planning to do with those articles? I'm going to leave mine on until I find a better use for them >_>
I don't know. I wonder if I'll ever find any use for them. I have just 3 of them. One of them gets just 5 visits a week but has the highest scores I wonder what makes it score well... That too HP views and not google
I find the opposite personally. Health is a very popular subject and in my experience these are some of the most successful articles to write as they are generally 'Evergreen' content. Of course it can take a couple of years for a hub to start to really show a return, and according to HP Admin, up to 3 years to reach its peak potential. A few months is a blip in time, and you need to give it longer before deciding this is not a good subject to write on, or that hubs/articles already written are no good.
Patience in this game is everything
Oh golly, me too, there are lots of other niches I prefer writing in. I solve the problem by writing about all of them, that way I fulfill my need to write about what I am passionate about, at the same time as I earn money from both those, and articles on subjects I am not so passionate about. I still can't quite bring myself to write sales hubs though, (product reviews etc). They bore me senseless
That's why I posted it to know whether it was the right thing to do So it was forum worthy
You must wait at least 6 months before taking such kinda decision.
Btw, this forum question would worth if you have asked it before unpublished the Hubs.
I did republish them and no worries as google will find them the same age Since they weren't crawled during that time frame
Never take any thing off unless it is poor quality or so topical that it does not have any interest in the future.
I have hubs starting to take off that were written 18 months ago, have had no views and suddenly they get traffic.
5 visits a week might not be much, but if you had 100 doing that it is 500 a week which is $$
Hmm good point I actually was against it but then I thought that they would harm my google reputation. I have very little but don't want to lose it
I guess I'll just stick with them
I think health hubs need to be very focused. A hub with general advice about a particular disease, for example, has very little chance. It will be competing against pages on sites from government health agencies, well known hospitals and clinics, patients' associations and other voluntary organisations for that disease. All of these have far more natural authority than a hub written by an individual, who might not even have any related qualifications. Google will rightly give priority to those authority sites.
That's a good point actually. Anyway, I'm done with my far-too-general health articles. Time to look for another niche...or just write what I'm passionate about...
I've been thinking about this thread because I've been considering removing several of my older hubs. Google's latest panda rollout targets older content -evergreen or not. My holiday-focused articles, which have always performed well in the past, garnerd almost no income this year.
So if I remove older hubs, rewrite them and re-post, am I going to get the 'duplicate content' warning? Is the Great and Powerful Google going to index them, recognizing them as fresh content? Or will all my work be for nothing?
De-commissioning hubs in order to freshen them up may restart these older hubs, rather than just editing them. I say this because I did edit to update on my seasonal articles, and it did no good. So, do I remove older, non-performing hubs, or do I just leave them and hope that someday someone will read them again?
Why not edit and improve them without unpublishing them, that way they are still the same article and not duplicate content? Alternatively unpublish them here, edit them, then republish. The URL will be the same so the hub is the same, in other words NOT duplicate content. If you start from scratch with them you lose all the aging of the article with Google, and any organic backlinks you have accumulated over the time they were published. If you really really want to start from scratch with these hubs, then use the Google URL removal tool to de-index them after you have unpublished them, and then re-publish your revised version under a new URL. The Google URL removal tool de-indexes a URL within about 24 hours and can be found here:

The probability of that hypothesis is not zero.
Health topics definitely need a different angle - a personal experience with the health problem always helps. I have a few health articles that do fairly well, but they are things we have dealt with on a personal level.
Shelly, you could try updating your older hubs - I hope that helps with the newest Panda update. They like to see "fresh" content, and editing and updating a few older hubs should help keep them fresh. I think the big G is planning another Panda roll-out for January (they didn't run one in December).
I did edit a few hubs, but it made no discernable difference. I may try that again, though, before taking the step to remove hubs and rewrite them.
Health topics can be tricky. I have a few on here, related to food and exercise. They aren't big earners, but they are fairly consistent. It's hard to find a balance.
Is this an impolite hijacking?
when considering banning please kindly take into consideration the lack of subject matter and missing OP thank you
There is no such thing as a polite hijacking.
Does this look very polite?
Is it tacky I decorated my terrace with pumpkins for Christmas? Cause I'm working with the pink plastic flamingo's for new years but how do I get them to stick to concrete? anyone?
It can take a large amount of time before hubs are 'ripe' in the search engines. Three months is hardly enough time. I'd argue that a year is when Google really puts faith into a particular piece.
You can write in a number of niches. There's nothing wrong with that. I write in a ton of niches and it doesn't hurt me in the least. Of course, there are some hubs that aren't remotely related, but that's fine. If you see yourself writing a TON of hubs in a particular niche, consider having a HubPages account just for that niche. Otherwise, just leave your account as is.
You're probably better off with one HP account with over 100 hubs in a variety of niches than several accounts with just one or two hubs.
It really for me has never been the number but quality hubs-I have a year old account with 20 hubs does wonders for me, so it's really an individuals trial and error
Good point Hope you do well with your poetry and congrats and I wish you success with the novelettes

I just returned to the site to find that 6 of my hubs have been unpublished. Not happy.

People have suggested I join Infobarrel so I did. I unpublished and deleted a hub here about La Guancha in Tenerife and thought I would use it as my first InfoBarrel article. The first problem I ran into was it said I was using a keyword too much. The keyword was roses and I was saying that there...

After 6 months on the site i've started the really wonder how many backlinks is a reasonable number to any hub, and really to a hub becoming successful? Or is it simply a lottery. What kind of figures do other hubbers consider?

I recently read some reviews on Consumer Affairs, which were absolutely devasting and have got me a little worried. I was wondering if anyone else wrote at similar sites prior to HubPages and why they made the switch, and if they had thought about going back.

So, I've had a hub unpublished due to HP claiming that it's overly promotional. The hub only has 2 outbound links ( which is the number of links we're allowed to put for the other external sites ) this is the only thing that I'm having in my hub. There is also NO amazon products or Ebay or...

One or two of my hubs have fallen victim to the "does not meet quality standards" empty bubble. In one case, I imagine it is because the hub falls under the "purely personal" category, better suited to a blog. That's fine. I can move it. (It's an older hub...
