My Page Views Have Suddenly Plummeted

   Can anyone explain why my page views have plummeted in the last few days. They have gone from 300 per day to 25 per day. Before December I was steadily increasing page views and was up in the high 300's. Throughout December the views slowly dropped down to the mid 200's then out of the blue 3 days ago they hit rock bottom. How is this possible? Does anyone have any ideas please.

   I took a quick look at your account and it appears to be healthy, but that at least one of your high trafficked hubs saw a pretty big decrease.  Right before Christmas this same thing happened to my most highly trafficked page.  What I did was update the page and tried to improve it to be the best.  After a few days it came back and is once again my top producer.
   
   I saw one of your hubs on calculating bond prices that fell in traffic.  Try updating that hub and give it a few days to come back.

      I had a similar problem with one of my best hubs just before Christmas   and traffic plummeted to the levels it was in the first few months of starting to write here... I edited and added more material to the hub and it is back to it normal traffic levels..
      I thought that this happened only to me... Now with Paul Edmondson stating something similar I hope this works for you too . ..but I guess there is no saying it will ..who can understand the way of the big G?

      Glad to know others in same boat as me...I will take your advice and update the hubs that had the highest views. I was surprised that today without attempting any SEO at all my views shot up to 50% of what they were before traffic started falling.

   It's not uncommon for fluctuations and it can seem quite dramatic when a Hub that drives the majority of the traffic changes places.
   
   I looked at a few of your hubs and see them ranking pretty well.  I think you'll be well served by updating your highest trafficked hubs.

   I've been experimenting with my best hubs, hubs that have declined quickly, and hubs that never did well.
   
   My results have been Hubs that are doing well, when they are updated and content added they do even better - sometimes dramatically.  Hubs that recently declined can be quickly reinvigorated if updated and refreshed.  I still haven't had great results in updating old hubs that never did well.  Still working to see if I can get a couple to break through.
   
   Updating Hubs every 12 months is something I've added to my practice.

      Perhaps this is a good time to ask for a 'last updated' button on our hubstats to help us remember which hub is due updated

      That was a great hub, Robin.  I've been working on doing this myself, ironically.  I get really scared to mess with my most successful hubs, though.  I'm afraid I might throw off "the formula" somehow...  But, you have some easy suggestions for ways I can make some improvements, so thanks for that.

   Nice article Robin and I have tried a few of your ideas and you wouldn't believe that in one day my hub views are almost back to were they were before they dropped. Absolutely amazing. Thanks for the advice.

   I'm so glad that the Learning Center entry was helpful!  Wordscribe, I have had the same feeling of being nervous to fix those Hubs that aren't broken, but from my experience, all of the updates have been helpful and I haven't been hurt from any edits that I have made.  Adding new content and deleting out of date content, can't hurt.  Also, It's really important to reinforce the keywords that Google is sending your traffic for.  If those keywords aren't substantiated in your Hub, Google may stop sending your traffic for those keywords - bummer!  In addition, I have actually gone through and deleted about 20 Hubs that were out of date or unsalvageable.  In my eyes, this makes my writing portfolio a lot stronger.  Have a great day, everyone!

    I have noticed that the number of views change significantly, at different times of the day. So, maybe you could monitor your views a couple of times during the day.

    I have been doing this for several months on my better performing hubs - if i see a sustained dip in traffic I update them and generally they return stronger. But as to reducing amazon and ebay; i have increased them in the last few updates I have made and my views have still continued to increase. Although my amazon etc is no where near 1 per 50 words by a long way!!

    I have a few questions.
    How often should one update a hub?
    Do you share the hub again after the update?
    Is it necessary to mention the date of update in the hub?
