I clicked the (+1) symbol at the top of five of my hubs two days ago, and since then i have noticed a considerable increase in traffic to those five hubs. Just thought i would share this information. Has anyone else noticed increased traffic through Google Plus?
Just a +1 given to yourself did that?? I doubt it. Did you +1 your already performing hubs or did you do it to random hubs?
Just curious - is it a good idea to do that to your own hubs? Does Google look down on that?
No, I think it's a bad idea. For more information, read this word from HP. It's about the most official take on the matter I can find.

Jason Menayan states the following:
I would like to sound a note of caution here. Please do not start +1ing your Hubs or other Hubs. Each +1 is tied to a specific Google account, and Google will likely be monitoring each account's pattern of +1s, and the quality of the sources that are +1ing your Hubs. Therefore, self-serving +1ing will probably only work to your own detriment. Don't forget that it's the same Google that drives the bulk of search traffic to your Hubs!
Please just allow readers who don't know you to do the +1ing of your Hubs... and the best way to do that is to publish only the best-quality Hubs. That way, the +1 button can help reinforce a genuine stream of traffic from Google to your high-quality Hubs.
You can +1 anything, Google plus will enjoy such sharing, because after all its leading people back to Google Plus, and away from other web locations when its all said and done, just like all the others are doing. Imagine Facebook trying to frown upon any of your likes, know that could mean the end for them if they had done such a thing. Go figure!
You are allowed to plus one your hubs, it is the same as pressing like on Facebook or Tweet for Twitter. It automaticaly shares them on your profile for that network. And the 5 hubs i selected were not doing so well in traffic which is why i tried something different, i doubt it was coincidence on all 5 hubs.
It's not a risk I'm willing to take, that's for darn sure. I disagree that it's the same as pressing like on Facebook or Tweeting a hub. It's entirely different, in fact. It doesn't work like social networking.
The purpose is for the Google pluses to come organically. Google may not have figured out you were the originator of the +1s, but it will... Then, it's like shooting yourself in the foot.
I second the motion here, Zoey i think your on the road to the correct sharing pathway. Good luck in your future hubbing and travels on the web as a whole. Nice! Forum inquiry.
Well, okay if you want to ignore what HP says, then Google+ away. But, if you want the official word, explanation of how it's different from social networking and don't want to piss off Google, then I suggest you read this:

Thanks for the information. I did read up on google +1s before i did this, and found nothing where it said you could not google plus your own articles. There is a lot of conflicting info on the internet, but while reading through questions and answers for google, they themselves compared google+ to Facebook likes.
Please read this forum post carefully.

Thanks for the link, I just read this article and found it useful. When i first clicked the plus 1s, i was under the impression that i could 'Google +1' in order to share with others, the same way i do with Facebook and Twitter. Google states that Google plus is a social networking and identity service. They also say that your +1s can be viewed by your friends and contacts. So it does sound very similar to Facebook.
One thing I'll note is that you don't have to +1 something to share it. You can share a link any old time... Just a thought.
I once submitted a HP link to my Google plus stream, is that just as bad ?
No, sharing links is fine... I'm only worried about hubbers willy nilly Google +1 their hubs.
I think the whole point here is to use Google Plus sparingly and judiciously when it comes to your own content. Aside from the fact that people in your circles might start rolling their eyes when all you do is promote your own stuff, Google could frown on this type of self-promotion if you're over-the-top about it.
I can't imagine it would be a big deal to Google +1 your hubs once in a while (the operative phrase being "once in a while"). I think there should be a healthy mix of +1s though.... meaning don't go all button happy only on your OWN content.
Sharing a link on Google Plus is different, though. They're not the same thing.
Thanks for the information. But if you keep on doing this on your hubs, it may be considered as sparm
I tend to email my hubs to one of my lesser used email addresses. Then when I check them I say to myself "oh my, what's this" and I go off to read it.
I don't get out as much as perhaps I should.

Do you use your Google Plus account to promote your hubs?I have a Google Plus account, but I rarely use it. Do you find that connecting your Google Plus and Hubpages accounts helps bring in traffic?

I was just wondering....I really don't get this feature yet. I guess it's sort of like "liking" something on Facebook? I know it's supposed to help Google rate our writing. Is it OK to ask readers to click our Google plus sign if they enjoyed the hub?

What 3 things do you think someone w/o a lot of time can do to increase their earnings on Hub pages? What tips do you have for someone to increase their earnings on HP even if they don't have a lot of time to dedicate to writing several new hubs every week or even month?

Facebook and Google Plus are not social to me at all. What about you?I get depressed and stressed every time I look at my facebook page or Google Plus account. I can't find the will to contribute any further because I find both of them to be so plastic and fake. I don't even know why they should be...
