If you call up Google and search for something, you cane expand "More Search Tools" on the left hand side.
Under that, click on "Verbatim". The word turns read and a "Verbatime - Learn more link" appears above your search results. That link leads to http://support.google.com/websearch/bin … er=1734130
which tells that "Verbatim" turns OFF
suggesting spelling corrections and alternative spellings
personalizing your search by using information such as sites you’ve visited before
including synonyms of your search terms to find related results
finding results that match similar terms to those in your query
searching for words with the same stem, like "running" when you search for [ run ]
Apparently this has been available for about 3 months; I just noticed it today. It's quite useful, particularly for getting rid of personalized results.
Thanks, I'll take a look at it. Tired of personalized results.
Yeah, though that isn't JUST shutting off personal results. It's also shutting off other things - and it's great to be able to turn those off; some searches are impossible without that, but other times you do want features like stemming and this just kills everything.
And I see I have missed yet another change.
You can now easily turn personal results on and off: http://support.google.com/websearch/bin … er=2410479
Stupidly, the call this "Personal" rather than "Personalized", which makes you think it just turns off results from peope you know, but that page makes it more clear.
This is brilliant! Thanks for finding it, PCUnix!
Well, I had no clue about this as well, and I am usually in on most stuff that Google comes up with pretty quick. Thanks, PCunix, for sharing this!!

Anything to do with Disney is very hard to rank for. So I was surprised that I'm on the front page for "disney fourth of july 2010".It's from a blog of mine. I'm also on the first page for the same phase for Universal studios and Sea World. Too bad it will only get traffic for a few...

I'm not sure if this is the right forum category - but does anyone know how various dates on our hubs affect Google traffic? I've noticed during several recent searches that some high-ranking results do not show the publication date. There are also no comments sections on some of these...
