"Did You Know That..." Capsule

    As a writer on Hubpages, to produce content that is both accurate and makes great reading is a very time consuming task. It makes writing become different business because I am required to use all my faculties to give readers what they are looking for. Coming up with a subject to write about is that kind of a challenge too. I was thinking that the introduction of a capsule called "Did You Know That...." In addition to the question and answer capsule could be a source of ideas, factual contributions and a potential link to much needed information for hubbers without having to go far away to look for it. It will also provide fodder for new hubs. Here is how it could work;

    "Did you know that"
The Victoria Falls In Zambia is one of the Seven Wonders of the World? That it was named after Queen Victoria of England and was discovered by a European (British) explorer called Dr David Livingstone?

Then, may be hubbers could have a chance to comment or take it to the forums to discuss.

Sorry, I don't get it.  If you want to create a section like that, you can do it yourself - use a text capsule. If you want to make it highlighted, float it right and choose a background.  Why would HP need to create something special for it?

I believe the OP means a capsule which displays a random snippet of information. So basically, if you refresh the page, you'll get a new snippet.

Although I don't see much need for it. We have the question section for inspiration, and there are dozens of other places you can get ideas.

That would worry me!  The snippet would be generated automatically, and that would presumably have to be based on tags - and we all know what strange result that can throw up occasionally!

Not a random snippet and it would not be based on tags. This is a lot like the question section of this community which you say already provides a lot of inspiration. The particular capsule I am suggesting would go beyond just sharing information in answer to a question or by asking a question. I believe as writers, we bring to this community unique knowledge and information that we could all benefit from and this particular capsule would open us to share that in the simplest way by way of a "Did you know that....(then provide unique information)" that people could easily research and create hubs about. Questions and answers are good but they are limited, one cannot provide answers for questions that are not asked but can share factual information that could become handy for somebody.

I hope I have made myself clearer.

            Not really.  Can you clarify:

            - Are you saying this should be a capsule which you add to a Hub, or a separate section of the HubPages site like the questions/answers section?

            - If it is a capsule for your Hub, can you explain why it's necessary, considering Hubbers can already create exactly the same thing using a text capsule?  Or are you proposing it be in a special colour, or be somehow special in other ways?

If you're referring to a special stand out capsule, I do that on my hubs using text capsules. Simply right align the capsule, make the information bold and make the background grey or blue so it's noticeable. VoilĂ .

Not a personal capsule. It is a suggestion to HP to consider a universal capsule of that nature. Thanks for your responses.

If I am reading this right, I think you may be asking for a format such as the Questions or Answers section for the 'Did You Know That..." to give hubbers inspiration to write Hubs from.
Reminds me of the Idea Bank when it was an option.

Precisely! You got the idea. That is what I am talking about. Yes, Yes, Yes.

Maybe it's the terminology that's confusing me?

A capsule is something you use inside a Hub.

So, if you are suggesting this capsule appears on a Hub, who puts the information inside it?  If it's HubPages, how will they create the information?  They don't have enough staff to do it manually.

I also think it would get too complicated to have it on each hub; as Marisa has mentioned. But...in a section for Hubbers to find inspiration would be something worth thinking about.

It would not be on each hub, but, as you said in a section just like the question and answer section is, all by itself.

I am sorry Marisa, I probably do not have the right terminology. But Michael Willis put it better. Thanks for the effort.

That's why we were all confused, Donna.  Capsules only exist in Hubs!

It's not a bad idea, if it's a separate section.   However that was the original idea of the Question/answer section - you'll notice you have the option to "make a Hub about it".
