there where many gospels and now we have only four...these fours are said to be purposefully promoted at cost of others...one of these gospel is gospel of philip ...what r ur views of gospel of philips?
There are a number of compilations available of the books that were voted out of the New Testament by Church committee some 1600 yeas ago. What we have today are those books which fitted the theological views of those making the decisions. Go figure.
yes...so no body knows which gospels are actuals...the gospels we have right now are work of committee...if gospel of mary or phillip are actual word of god then current Christianity is far from truth...
This is conceivable. We have to take it on faith that those making the decisions were best placed to decide based upon the 'received wisdom' of what constituted Christianity at the time. However, I have read a few other of these writings, and I can see why they didn't make it. Some contain wacky concepts, and others are just crashingly boring.
There was great debate over which teachings would be included into the Canon.
One influence over which books would be included and which would not, was the head of the council. Emperor Constantine.
His influence did not end there, When the Church was established, The Emperor was the ultimate authority over all church actavities and decisions.
It is said that he converted to Christianity over a decade later while on his death bed.
To say the least; It would seem to be clear that Church doctrine was greatly influenced by Non Believers, whos motives were strictly political.
A doctrine had to be "Tamed Down" so-to-speak such that citizens of many religious beliefs could agree and conform.
It would have been a great compromise of doctrine on everyones part in order to achieve the desired results.
