How can we improve the Presidential political process?

   The Presidential election of 2012 has been going on forever it seems.  What can we, as a nation, do to make the presidential political process better?    The election laws we enact don't seem to make the process better.  How can we get beyond this Presidential political mess?

      Throw out the electoral process, put it in a trash compactor, flush it into the Gulf of Mexico, and let the popular vote prevail.  Of course, an honest popular vote, not one with multiple voters registered as living on vacant lots in say Sheila Jackson Lee's district in Texas.

         OH, this is good!  All except for the trash compactor flushing into the Gulf of Mexico - I live on the west coast of Florida on the Gulf.    Maybe it is time to change to the popular vote.  I can't believe how corrupt or election process has become.

            The only reason we don't have a popular vote, is because the founding fathers did not trust the rabble. It is different now. The rabble is in Washington DC.

   Lewis Black had a good idea....it involves a monkey. You take a monkey up in a plane, give him/her a parachute and push the monkey out of the plane. Once it lands, the first person the monkey walks up to....is the new President of the U.S.

   That's a tough one. It seems there has always been a problem. Think of "King" Andrew Jackson. Lincoln could never quit running for office. It was fishy the way Custer got left out to dry when he was gaining popularity on Grant. There have been lobbyists since day one.
   
   I like the approach that Buddy Roemer is taking. He will not take more than $100 per donor. No PAC money. I know a lot of people don't take him seriously. You have to give the man credit. His little regional bank has stayed healthy even with Geithner and the FDIC trying to huff and puff and blow they thing into the hands of a TARP favorite or a "too big to fail". That bank didn't foreclose and worked with regional business to keep it all going.
   
   Thanks anyway Washington DC, we don't need you to arrange our affairs for us.
   
   The more I think about it, the more I like the monkey method.

   Definitely the monkey. Except we'd have to find some way of ensuring that the monkey landing at a random place in the United States in the interest of fairness.
   
   Maybe if we dropped several monkeys, perhaps distributed roughly according to the population of each state...crap, we're right back to the electoral college.

   All of you are a riot and I love the monkey idea!  It is a crap shoot most of the time anyway, so why not a monkey?  Also, voting with dollars sounds good to me.  Money makes the world go around, the world go around! 
   
   Seriously, I think we do need to get rid of PAC money.  I think these men are buying the presidency.  May be public service announcements for president in which the ads are done gratis.  I don't know, that is why I asked the question.  I just know, what we are doing now just doesn't seem to be producing and leaders or the right kind of people to run for president.

      If we took the money out of politics, we'd see most of these politicians leaving in droves as that's all most of them are in it for. They don't care about us. Now, the big question: How? How, when they have control?

      Yes, when we have news anchors announcing they have caused certain candidates to be elected president, it is time to ignore the media.  It is far too biased today and definitely not objective as it is suppose to be.  The political bias of each news organization is causing part of the problem, I agree.

   I wouldn't be terribly opposed to the electoral college voting proportionately instead of all or nothing, but there's that one senator who thinks the world will basically end if there's a recount and the election isn't decided by January 20th.

    Because of the Supreme Court decesion on "Citizens United" Ruling, we will need a new law.  Nancy Pelosi (House of Represenative Leader) was saying the very same thing. Pres. Obama denounced the ruling during a command performance speech.  Justice Roberts..refuses to attend any of his speeches.  Because of the Supreme Court ruling, millions (billions) can be spent and they don't have to say where the money is coming from. It's disgusting!
