Come to think of it, it can also be free will if one engages in risky behaviour.

If a drunken driver hit you, is it your free will or his?

Nobody determined you should get hit, a drunken one has no will, let alone free!!

Fate is "force predetermining events", there is no predetermination. A gazelle is killed by lion or escape from the lion, is just accident, neither the gazelle have the free will that help it to escape, neither there is a fate that determine it to be the food of the lion.

That's why you house-train them, so there will be no more accidents. That's free will. tongue

Yes. I agree that it is both free will and fate.

We can change our destiny of fate as well in terms of Feng Shui.

How do you know your destiny in order to change it?

I looked straight up and it was a big, falling rock. Unfortunately, stepping aside is not an option. I've got to figure out a way to crawl over the big, brick fence that surrounds me. big_smile

Feng Shui tells us about our obstacles and we will act upon it to avoid or reduce the effect. That is if you believe in Feng Shui.

I tried it and have witnessed the effect of Feng Shui. Basically, it is all about the Qi energy flow within your house as well as your personal Bazi.

Free will is the ability of agents to make choices free from certain kinds of constraints.
Destiny or fate is a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual

Just as I told, the Gazelle has the free will to run or not, but has no free will not to be eaten by the lion. There is no predetermination that the gazelle be eaten by the lion, depends on who can out run whom. Just catching the gazelle will not ensure that the lion is able to eat it. If the lion can eat it, it survive and tell the story, if not nobody knows about it.

Free will: our Arrogance that we have control on our destiny.
Fate: our Hope that destiny will be in our control.
