Originally the president was the head of the Executive Branch of the U.S. government, the Commander-in-Chief (or at least he should have been)... But, over next two hundred years the presidency has grown and assumed other obligations and privileges.
What should the president be capable of doing in regards to our society, the economy, the military, the legislative process, etc. ? Should things me moved more to the other branches?
I thought they were just supposed to campaign?
Well, that may be for every politician haha
I will tell what the president shouldn't be doing, and that is running around the country pandering for voters to reelect him. This is a personal task and it doesn't satisfy his duties to the office of the president.
It is on the taxpayers tab for the president to go on fundraiser, as well as doing fundraising is not solving the problems of the country.
No elected official should be shirking the duties of their office for personal gain.
To start with, he should be looking for ways to shrink the federal government. Approximately one/half of the deficit spending of this nation is in support of a federal government grown much too large and continuing to grow at a rate or roughly 7% per year under this administration. The other half of that deficit is the military and Obama is more than willing to attack it and dismantle it in the name of a "leaner, meaner, more technologically advanced military"...that means less soldiers and less boots on the ground. That means we relegate our ability to fight down to a scenario of only one battle front. Secondly, this presiden shows no ability to lead. If he had that ability, he would surely chastise those in his own party for their inability to produce an operating budget in over three years. Since Obama has taken office, we have seen the Constitutionally required budget for the government thrown in the trash. We have seen executive order after executive order circumventing what should have been voted on by the Congress...the latest being changes in policy toward illegal immigration. As a nation, we are being buried in debt and we have a president incapable of leadership who has only one concern at the moment and that is gaining voting blocks. This one individual has sold America down the river in too many ways to mention and he literally spit on the Constitution in the process. No matter what party holds the high office of President, such actions cannot be tolerated. We must have a President who has a conscience and wants to do what is best for the nation in terms of "what we can afford" not "what we desire". WB
Making executive ordesr and running the government himself since the Republicans have opted out of making legislation.

Do you believe the sovereignty of the United States is being eroded - diminished?I see my beloved country, the United States, eroding and being diminished. What disgusts me the most is that some of our own people are deeply involved in doing this. Can we come back from this? I'm not so sure. Why is...
