I was moving a hub of mine that is a low performer here over to Squidoo and had as far as I was concerned deleted it here, however, now after republishing it at Squidoo, I have found it has been locked as duplicate content that already exists. If I look in my account files here it says it is deleted and I do not have this posted anywhere else!
I can see this is going to be a new source of problems for me if I decided to move other hubs.
Your hub will exist in Google for a few weeks after you remove it.. you could also have copies out there on the internet if someone had copied it...
Just take a couple of full lines from your hub and search them on google and you will see if it is just your hub (which will eventually vanish) or another copy..
If it is just your hub you can delete it from google using webmaster tools.
It all seems an awful lot of hassle just to attempt to get some traffic for my writings! Thanks for the info! I suppose I have been lucky so far with others I have moved!
I don't know anything about Webmaster Tools or where to find them!
Webmaster Tools is a great thing to explore and learn how to use. Below should get you to the starting point:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
Thanks, Dale! I had never heard of it before.
This is the link to Google webmaster central . You will need a Google account which you can create.
http://www.google.com/webmasters/
The hub link given below explains how to link your hubpages subdomain to google webmaster central so that you can keep tabs on your traffic . Also it will provide you with tools to remove your hub from the google results and google webcache .
http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/How- … ster-Tools
But prior to that you might need to set up a google analytics account. Link below tells you how to do it .
http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/sett … -analytics
If you do not want to link HP and google analytics then you should just request removal of webpage at google webmaster central.
These links might help

http://support.google.com/webmasters/bi … er=1663660
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bi … er=1663691
Thank you for this info! It seems very complicated to me though. I just tried adding my site and verifying it and it failed. I don't see how I can add the meta tag here anyway if that is what is needed.
That is why you should link your HP subdomain to Google analytics account. Then there is no need to add meta tag .All you have to do is enter the url of your subdomain in webmaster central and your subdomain will be verified. Under optimization you can request for removal of url in your sub domain .
Alternately you can just wait for some time and your deleted hub might disappear from google results
I have a Google analytics number but it wouldn't accept it for my subdomain and again it was not able to verify it and I gave up!
I have just found out how to do it and my site is verified!
Also if you do find copies, you can still file a DMCA using the wayback machine.
Izzy, I am so fed up of having to do this for hubs on my other sites and I just had one guy being rude about it and, after taking down my stolen work, posting on his blog saying "has the spirit of friendship between bloggers become extinct?" I just answered that saying I am just trying to make some money and have had enough!

In checking my email, I found early this week I received an email from the above party, telling me they will notify me by email of any errors they find when crawling my site... Did we all get one? I wonder if they are doing it because of problems mentioned by staff early this week...

So, I deleted an article I'd written on another site and want to move it over here to HP. First, how long do I have to wait before it's deindexed? Second, what's the best way to find out if it's deindexed? I've been just searching for it on Google, Bing and Yahoo and still finding it there. Don't...

I had a hub that was receiving around 1,300-1,500 views per day. It was chosen as Editor's Choice. It then dropped by about 1,000 views per day. I opted out of the program, but that hub is no longer showing in Google for the keywords that brought it all the traffic before EC messed it up. How can I...

The Google Webmaster Tools provides a page rank number for pages that they have listed for you. Are these true numbers. If they say Page 2 for a particular hub, does that mean it is on Page 2 of Google search.

I write for a smaller niche, and it is seasonal. I have been penalized for this and am now forced to put all my information into one gigantic hub ... it looks awful, its ridiculously long and quite frankly many are going to land, go cross eyed and leave. In an attempt to salvage my writing which is...
