What can I do to make Hubpages a more fun and uplifting experience?

   Honestly, I love to write but when it comes to actually writing things that people really want to hear about it can be really exhausting, especially when you want to make some money doing it. I hate making less than $2 a month on Hubpages...it's exhausting especially when I login and have absolutely nothing to talk about or I am completely bored out of my gore.  Last year I wrote a lot, but this year I have found it hard to get anything new going...
   
   What can I do to make Hubpages a more fun and uplifting experience?  I think this is key as the hubs that I get the most hits on are usually the ones that I a ton of fun writing about.

      I think your question is one of those that should reveal to yourself at least two things to help yourself out. One is that you love writing and that the hubs you loved to write the most are successful. That shouldn't be surprising. Enthusiasm usually leaks through to the reader. Second you've made a start by coming to the forums and letting this frustration out.
      
      If I may presume, it looks like from your accolades and the time you've been here that you are not one to get too involved in the forums or questions/answers sections here. It might be a good idea if you left off the writing for a while and got move involved with hubbers here. It will keep you connected and take your mind off your writing frustrations.

      It always seems like things I find fascinating, and writing about, no-one else wants to read!
      
      It is boring writing about the most-searched for topics, and unfortunately, that boredom shines through in my case at least!
      
      BUT, when you get a bit of Google interest, and results, your enthusiasm for writing will come back.
      
      I don't agree that you need to be 'active on the forums' or anywhere else here on HP.
      
      HP readers/hubbers are not your primary focus. The world's searchers are.
      
      A tip that might help you is to read the news carefully, and look for subjects that seem to be generating interest. Something that is interesting to you too.
      
      Then try and think of an angle that  is not widely written about.
      
      It only takes one or two hubs to lift you right out of the doldrums....

      I think you are doing it...interacting with other hubbers. It's very easy to silo yourself and write intensely and then get burnt out.
      
      Part of what makes hubpages so much fun is the hubbers. Sometimes, I just get on and read others questions and posts and don't even write. Read some of the success stories, they are so inspiring. Or instead of researching topics to try to write on for $, what do you love? Find forums and other writers who write on the things you love and just read. Read for the enjoyment and I think you will find out what made you start writing in the first place.

   I agree with Izzy and Casimiro. Firstly, you're writing for your potential readers and what they may be interested in. However, hubbers reflect what many searchers are, well, talking about. It's not good to spend too much time in the forums, but the conversations can inspire you to write about a topic you find interesting, and asking other peoples opinions can be really helpful.
   
   Just browse the forums and see what you find interesting, if you find it interesting others will, too. Inspiration!

   Nothing says every hub you write has to be a moneymaker. If your true passions lie in poetry or fiction or whatever, no reason you can't put a couple up. They probably won't get as much traffic and they aren't going to make you rich but it can help to release some of the frustration. If you don't want to mix business with pleasure on your account, you can always open a second account that is just for "fun" writing.
   
   But, I have to agree with the others, interaction is key. You can have a lot of fun here and meet people who might become friends for life but you have to get out there and try. The forums are a god place to start (just don't take anything too seriously lol) and interacting with others in comments on hubs is good too. Just remember, if the writing feels like a chore, you're not going to enjoy doing it anymore and that will reflect in your writing. Readers can sense when an author isn't interested in their subject matter and if it doesn't even interest the writer then why would anyone want to read it??

      I think only a small percentage of hubs are going to be moneymakers, that's just how it is unless you're famous or something.
      
      Great idea to start a "fun" account. For me those would be my blogs, which are getting less serious every week! LOL.

   Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions so far.  I have to admit that I try to avoid the news and newspaper as I like to stay on a positive note instead of the never ending negativity that it all is.
   
   I could definitely try being active in the forums a little more.  I have been trying to look up, read, and comment on hubs that I am personally interested it.  I know that can earn you some reader as well...but of course I don't do that just to get readers.
   
   I honestly do think there is a way to earn a supplement income off of hubpages.  I would love to get about $50-100 a month.  It might take a while to get there but what I have notice is that sometimes the money I make is from my hubs being up for several month and everything adds up even though I might not be writing at any moment.
   
   I do like to set goals.  I'm trying to break the $2.00 mark for September since I'm making just below $2 a month now.
