Socrates and Nehemiah

   I often wonder about events in history and happened to come across a question, which I think would make for an interesting conversation. Nehemiah and Socrates. Yes, the two were born and lived nearly parallel time lines. In essence contemporaries -as were Buddha and Confucius.
   
   I am wondering if they ever met or crossed paths in their travels. What would those conversations entail -hypothetically or literally- given the vast array of powerful thinking happening. Did they influence one other and their opposing cultures? Was there any type of information exchanged between Greece and Jerusalem, India and China between all four men -keeping in mind the extensive Persian dynasty around them.
   
   A second question too is if Socrates protegee, Plato, knew of Nehemiah, since he would have been a teenager around the time Nehemiah was winding down and what influence his predecessors had on him.

      Really a cool question. So many similarities in teachings. Of course one can find opposite approaches if that is what they look for. Perhaps for me they all still exist simultaneously. What they all for sure shared in common was great intellect and a belief in something we now cal soul. And they all introduced man to the concept of living in different plains, so to speak.

         Well said, Eric. This is part of my line of thinking about them collectively.
         Seems too coincidental all four lived nearly the same time line and each of their philosophies can be messed closely. There are variables, obviously, but a general consensus. What I am finding more interesting is all four had political and social influence on their respective societies. They all formed well educated, versed, written and established concepts that exist even today -and in no small form to say the least. Yet none of them note interpersonal dialogues with another. This era is fascinating as it depicts the implosion of the Babylonians, the decline of the Persians, the entry of the Thinkers, rise of Greece --and soon after the establishment of Rome, thanks in part to Alexander. These four players set the stage- as you mentioned- for very profound possibilities.
         
         My curiosity would be the dialogues or correspondences between them.
         See them sitting together and a crowd building in fascination at what they were saying.

      It is a hypothetical question. Socrates was an actual Greek philosopher. The other one is a Jewish biblical character.

      All four lived precisely the same time and had very similar philosophies, social positioning, recognition and ideas. But Nehemiah and Socrates strike me more given their geo-location. There had to be some kind of interchange. I realize am purposely leaving our Ezra and Malachi, because they are more localized prophets versus philosopher with influence over the masses.

   Buddha was a psychologist. Confucius was a moralist. Plato was a philosopher. What was Nehemiah? I never heard of him.
